I started on MFP in jan with hopes to lose some weight before I start trying on wedding dresses this july....I have lost a total of 11lbs, my fiance says thats good but i'm getting frustrated considering he has already lost 48lbs and we started the same time. Granted I do know guys can lose faster but can someone give any advice what to do? Or where I can tweak things i'm already doing. HELP!!

    1. forget the numbers that MFP gave you.
    2. go here: scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/
    3. fill out the information and try eating what it recommends.
    4. understand that guys are typically gonna lose a lot faster, so stop comparing your loss to his.

how much are you eating? how much are you working out? what are you doing?

I'll check out that website, i just noticed someone else mentioned it too. I jog for 30-40 min and use the stationary bike for another 30. And I know this is not good but I strugle somedays to even eat 1200 cal because I just get full quickly:(

I checked out your diary and it looks pretty good. You can eat back a little more of your exercise calories, though. Also, you might want to up your protein a bit and add in strength or weight training. This helped speed up my weight loss. My diary is open to friends if you want to add me.

you don't have to eat "diet" foods.
you're supposed to eat back the exercise cals.
1200 is low, even if you're not working out.. which you are...
you don't HAVE to exercise to lose weight, you maintain a caloric deficit.

eat REAL food. Cheese, peanut butter, avocado... all of that has plenty of calories and is good for you.

and don't knock yourself for getting out there and working out, even if it IS 30-40 minutes at a time.

Lemme guess, you set up your MFP account with a goal of 2 lbs per week?

I can totally relate! I eat healthy, watch my calories, exercise at least 5 days a week and I've lost 3 pounds. My fiance on the other hand, makes one change, stops drinking soda (I don't drink it, and didn't before I started MFP).. and he loses 10 pounds!! WTH??
  • Same boat here.. my boyfriend has lost 40 pounds and i have lost 22:sad: . Don't get discourage.. You will lose weight:drinker: . Just be patient and count ALL your calories. :glasses:

I don't eat diet foods, I have always been a big fruit lover, veggies not so much but getting better, I find it hard to get my protein intake up though. Yes I set it at 2 lbs only because I wanted to lose and look good while trying on dresses, I know 2lbs is high but i'm even ecstatic at 1lb a week.

unless you have a LOT of weight to lose, 2lbs / week is going to be too much of a deficit. Set MFP at 1lb or so.
Need more protein? Beef, chicken, pork, tuna, cheese, greek yogurt...

2lbs/week is only a number on a website/app, it will have no overall impact on how you look trying on dresses.
