    Yes, wisdom at last.
I will say this, I have a grandmother is is pushing 80 years old. She has fasted extensively in her life. I can think of one time ever that she has had a health problem, and it was when she had her gallbladder removed. NO problems before or after that. She is physically strong, healthy as a horse, sturdy, and mentally sharp . If fasting were bad for ones health, she must certainly be the exception. I will always believe that fasting is just fine.

This is not how you draw conclusions.

My great grandmother lived to 105. She smoked her entire life. See where I'm going with this?

A juice fast is a terrible idea from a health perspective. If it's a short one and you're doing for spiritual reasons then go nuts, or "fruits" rather, it probably won't kill you.
You're quite entitled to your opinion. I am entitled to mine. I have never once known anyone who fasts to suffer ill effects from fasting. And I have know a lot of people who fast. The smokers however.... well... the exception does not change the rule. Do you see where I am going with this?
You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. Silly person.

So to recap: this fast is not for weight loss, not for detox, not for health, and not for religious purposes. Well, sorta for religion but not quite any recognized religion or following particular spiritual belief.

    OK. You win. I'm out.

I did a juice fast for two sets of 4 days each. In the end, I felt great. Do I want to do it again? Hell no! My first suggestion would be to try different juices before your actual fast. You don't want to get to your "meal" of juice and find out that you don't like it. It's too easy to fall off the fast then. Second suggestion would be to keep something on hand like sliced mushrooms, broccoli, or some type of fresh veggie you like to snack on if you just must eat something. For me, having a few slices of mushrooms got me through the tough evenings when I was about to eat everything in sight.
  • Before you juice, read your juicers manual. Make sure you can juice the things you want without breaking it. (I cant use bananas, but I can blend them in in a blender if I want.)
    Anyways, a juice idea:

I made this and it was awesome, sweet, peppery and a little spicy. Try it. (Makes approx. 6 cups I think, or 3-4 small servings)

1/2 large papaya (Don't put the seeds through the juicer, it will make your juice bitter)
    3-4 Carrots, large
    1/2 bell pepper, any color
1 large celery stalk (Not the whole bundle)
    Strawberries
    1-2 Pepperoncini peppers, no seeds
1/2 medium pineapple, no core or skin

Add if desired: Apples, kiwi, oranges, spinach, kale.

    Enjoy :)

You may want to get on the rebootwithjoe website. It will have a lot of recipes and a community board that is juice fasting. I'm almost done with a 30 day juice fast. Been absolutely wonderful! This is not really the place to talk about it. I'm not sure why this board differs from other but people seem to be in attack mode a lot.

Yes, check out reboot with joe. I just did his 3-day juice fast and I suffered no ill effects and I was FULL each day. My favorite was his Sunset Blend. If you come up with your own concoctions just be sure to keep the fruit to veggie ratio in check, It's easy and tempting to add a lot of fruit but make sure you get your veggies in there.

Carrots + Ginger + Oranges = my favorite juice.

I tried it once... the juice fast. I lasted about 24 hours before I wanted to punch someone in the face, at which point I decided it was not a good idea for me.... to juice fast, or to punch someone in the face.

lol Its not a good idea to punch someone in the face. thanks for the recipe and for letting me know how your fast went

Yeah I wish I had something more helpful or encouraging than that. But even if you don't make it as long as you hope to, good job for trying... though I'm sure you have more resolve than I do.
  • I've done almost 200 days of juice cleansing. It's AMAZING!

I did a juice fast for January of this year - I loved the feeling (after the first 3 days) and the results. Since then, I have juiced daily, and found that, after the fast, I craved a whole food, plant based diet, instead of the junk and sugar based diet I was eating before. I used recipes from rebootwithjoe.com and found ones that I liked through trial and error.
Whatever others say on here, I found the process to be very positive.

Those of you who have done a juice fast longer than a few days please enlighten me with your experiences. The most important question being.......did you ONLY put the homemade juices into your body?? No coffee, no wine?? Those are my 2 weaknesses. My next question is, how do you juice during the day when at work? I can't bring my juicer into the office, so would I make a large batch in the morning and drink as needed throughout the day? Did you drink as you got hungry or kept to a meal schedule of 6 juices per day?

    Thanks for helping me out!
