I made my goal!

After being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in October of 2012, I finally had the incentive to really get my act together. I was also on HBP meds, high cholesterol meds and acid reducers for chronic heartburn/hiatal hernia. I have lost a total of 26 pounds since registering with MFP, I am now off the HBP meds, acid reducers and on the lowest dose of Metformin I can take(500mg/day). I have my 6 month Diabetes check tomorrow and I am going to discuss getting off meds all together. My A1c is down from 8.3 in October to 5.6 at my last appointment(3 months ago).

My lovely wife has also lost over 20 pounds and become a Diabetic cooking guru! We are both in better shape than we have been in our 20 years of marriage. I ran my fastest 10K in my life 2 weeks ago and have a half marathon coming up next month. I have been running about 30 miles a week (I was already a runner, just a poor eating runner).

This is so possible people! Keep it up and keep moving. I am not going to preach against anyone's extreme diets, that is not my place. But I have done all this on the standard recomemmended levels of carbs, protien and fat on this site! It is a lifetime sustainable eating plan and I am living proof that it works. :)

I am preaching this site to all my friends and my wife and I are starting a health and fitness ministry at church to share it with everyone we know.

Again, not preaching against anyone else's choice of diets, just letting you know that this is doable. I can't wait to get on here and let everyone know the results of tomorrow's Dr visit.
Happy running,
Rundad

as a nurse this is awesome news to hear. so many people can change their medical diagnoses and lives if they did exactly what you did. keep up the good work and don't stop even now that you are at goal. it is a life long thing. Congrats to you and your wife. God bless you both.
