My friend is selling a barely used boflex extreme for 150. Do you think that's worth it? Are they good machines? Has anyone had success with them? I am new to weights so im not sure... Also, I think it uses body weight? Obviously I am turning to you mfp at the start of my research.

Thanks!

I love how I never get any responses to questions asked about exercise but the stupid "rate the person above you" posts get 50 million pages of responses... I say save that **** for Facebook!

Better than nothing. With the exception of Bowflex Revolution, I don't like the Bowflex machines because they only have progressive rod resistance (meaning there's no eccentric contraction). But it's better than not strength training at all. I say get it if you can afford it.

  • Maybe your topic title should have been BOFLEX EXTREME...SMASH or PASS?

but to not be a jerk, I don't know I've never used one :)

My Hubby bought a new one a long time ago and used a few times and then it just sat there and rotted. I used it a couple of times but i personally like the free weights better. Even the resitance bands give you a great workout and they don't take up space. IMO.

Bowflex machines do not use body weight, they use "rods" that you attach the end of the cable to. I have heard that they can be challenging to reconfigure between exercise, BUT I heard that on an advert for some other machine.

If you do not currently do any form of resistance training, this is a convenient way to get started. If you already have a routine, and you aren't bored with it, I would pass on this offer.

I had a bowflex and I liked it and used it often. Then I moved to a smaller house and didn't have room for it so I sold it and picked up a gym membership. 150 is a good price if you can afford it I say go for it as well becuase any exercise is good exercise. I sold mine for 450 (just sayin)
