TDEE

Whilst eating at TDEE, should I use exercise (which I do love) to create a calorie deficit for weight loss? I'm very new at this TDEE stuff. After 600 - 1200 net cals a day for the past 2 years I figure this is the next avenue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Take your TDEE subtract 10-20%. With that deficit you will lose weight. The TDEE has your activity level calculated in. I would try to help figure it out but you didnt leave stats.0

Thanks vegus
I've already calculated my TDEE. Eating at TDEE -%20 would mean I don't log my exercise, correct?0 -
If you log your exercise dont eat back those extra calories. Just use the calories consumed.0

Thanks so much. So just to clarify, if I stick to TDEE - %20 as my net ill be fine?0

YES U WILL. DATZ WAT I USE. MY TDEE- 15%. JUX NET DAT. DNT EAT THOSE CALS BACK0

Big thank you to you both ????
Both times I've lost weight I've started at the 130kg mark (280lbs I think) and got to where I am now at 95kg (208lb) and stopped. For 5 months now I've been gaining and losing the same 5kg by eating 1200 calories and exercising off anywhere between 300-600 cals a day. Clearly this method only gets you so far... I'm hoping this will help get me to my healthy weight!0 -
Using my TDEE did not work for me. Going back to 1200 calories where I can eat back my exercise caloried.0

I BELIEVE 1200 CALS IS REALLY 2 LOW FA ANYONE UNLESS U A MIDGET. MOST WOMEN SHUD B @ 1500. THINK ABT IT IF UR CALS R SET @ 1200 & U WRK OFF 300 - 600. UR ONLY NETTING 600 - 900 CALS PUTTING U N STARVATION MODE IF U EAT DAT WAY FA 2 LONG PLUS LOSING LEAN BODY MASS. DEFINITELY NT GUD. MUSCLE BURNS FAT SO U WANNA PRESERVE AS MUCH AS U KAN WHILE ON A SLIGHT CAL DEFICIT BY KEEPING PROTEIN HIGH0

IF U DO DECIDE 2 EAT @ 1200 U NEED 2 EAT THOSE CALS BACK. 1200 IS DA ABSOLUTE MINIMUM U SHUD EAT0

Ouch my eyes, please don't talk in caps and don't use slang....not everyone understands it.
OP...if you do TDEE - % you focus only on calories consumed, NOT NET. So for example, my TDEE-20% is 1800. I eat to 1800 no matter what my net is or how much exercise I do. If I burn 1000 calories that day, then I net 800. With TDEE it isn't a focus on day by day, it is actually an averaging out over time, thus the reason you stick to a certain number.0 -

I'm only just starting to understand this now. Which is exactly why I'm changing to TDEE. I've doing the 1200 cal, netting 600-900 for so long that my body can not push past this weight I'm at now. It all made so much sense when I read about TDEE vs calorie restriction. I'm sure ill gain at first, but I need to undo years of damage to my metabolism. So it'll be worth the short term weight gain for the end result of health ????0 -

I'm now confused by conflicting answers...
But I think yours makes sense. So as long as I stick to my TDEE - 20% (2234cals) I can exercise till my little hearts content safely?0 -
Thanks vegus
I've already calculated my TDEE. Eating at TDEE -%20 would mean I don't log my exercise, correct?0 -
Hi Kendra, good luck! I'll cross my finger for both of us ????0

Sounds like you need to eat more, your body seems to have gone into starvation mode.0

How long did you eat at your TDEE? You gained weight initially because you body was thinking "I should hold onto this because I don't know when I'm going to get fed again". Eventually it'll realize you will be consistently feeding it that amount and will start to lose again (as long as you eat at a cut from your TDEE). Your TDEE is maintenance so you shouldn't GAIN from eating that amount unless its calculated wrong.0 -
