I know it can't just be me that sometimes wakes up and eats 2000 calories before midday? Or night binges their weight in food? I don't know why I do it, I just can't stop:(
And I feel so so sad and guilty afterwards!
So if anyone has any tips on how to prevent binging and be a healthier person then please share! For the sake of anyone that binges!

i do the same, only advice i have is dont beat yourself up!! guilt is the biggest comfort food provider of excuses ever!!!
take a deep breath, and decide if you really do 'need' what you are about to eat..chances are its a want not a need, doesnt make it any less difficult to deal with, but dont take the guilt trip-its not worth it!!!0 -
There are groups on here for emotional eaters and bingers (I was one of them). I found the only way to stop my bingeing was to allow myself to eat ANY food.
I make everything from scratch and just cut the resulting "bad" food up into small enough portions (i.e. I make brownies, but cut them up so that a recipe supposedly for 16 actually makes 32, and at 100 cals a treat I can have a couple and not go mad).
If I feel a binge coming on I just get away. Get out of the house for a walk, promise myself that I'm going to sit at my desk for half an hour, down half a litre of water, go browse for something I really want online, and by the time I've finished my little task the urge has passed.0 -
It takes time to get used to and to change your ways. don't expect everything to be perfect right away. I still binge every so often at night and the binges have been smaller and smaller amounts of calories. Like last night it as 270 calories (2 rice cakes and pumpkin seeds). It used to be full meals.

You asked our opinion - I will share mine based on my experience.
I went to a psycologist. Growing up in an extremely dysfunctional family, as we became adults (actually even before we became adults) two of my siblings turned to alcohol, one of my siblings and I turned to food. That continued after I got married, and if I would try and cut back, I got pressure from my spouse to continue to eat. Found out later that she interpreted the eating as me showing my love, since cooking and cleaning was her "love language".
I had many issues to work out. These issues caused me more problems than just eating and being heavy. I cant say if its gonna work for anyone else, but it worked for me.0 -
I agree that not eating that you want is best for me. What I mean is that if I just take one nibble or a small amount and I am in the "binge" mood - I will eat it all. I found it easier to lose weight than maintain as I know this if for life and I can have a little of something but... I find it hard to stop. I have to not drink wine as for me, one glass leads to 3 and this leads to a binge. Wish I could help more but.. if you binge... get right back on track. You will feel like crap the next day or two and might weight 3-4 lbs more of water weight. But, it comes off and you will be right back on target in 3-5 days. Maybe that is how "normal" weight people do it, if they eat a lot, they just stop for a few days or a week and then do it again. Maybe that is life!!!0

I have found for me one bite will send me into binge city. So I have had to learn to not have the first bite. Then I log. Yes logging can be a pain especially during a binge. But for me I will stop binging sooner then later if I keep logging. I am binging less and less as time goes on. Give yourself a break and don't keep putting yourself down. That kind of thinking will only help you stay in binge mode. The weight didn't just appear overnight so it will take some time. But I will be well worth all the passed over calories and junk as you start felling your clothes get looser :happy:0

I am hungover this morning and going to work was a struggle and I ended up eating 1045 calories before half 9 to try and make myself feel better. It happens.
If I feel like Im about to binge eat, I think about whether I'm prepared to work off all the calories i will eat. If I do, then I will have to get up and exercise again that day, but if i feel too tired from work/gym and i cant be bothered i will not do it0
