Hi all - my other half is type 1 diabetic and was diagnosed with it as a teenager. However he is overweight, I want to reduce carbs and cook healthy meals so that we both can eat the same. I've tried reading up on this but there is very little out there on the net regarding losing weight when you're a type 1 diabetic.
Any pointers or advice??? thanks all

Hi,
This is a tricky one but from what I understand there should not be any issues reducing carbs, after all your other half is taking insulin (I assume?) to combat the carbs he is eating. Studies have shown that getting the carbs right down means the insulin can also be reduced too but obviously this is something that needs to be done in conjunction with a doctor.
I have read post by lots of low carb diabetics out there that have had massive success loosing lots of weight by carb reduction. I recommend checking in here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/411-low-carber-daily-forum-the-group- and I am sure you will find others in the same situation.
