Is this even possible?

Hi everyone, my very first post on the MFP community! *waves*
I started logging my food onto MFP a week ago, with a starting weight of 182lbs (I'm a 20 year old female) with an eventual goal weight of 140lbs and then seeing what happens after that!
My diet before was very carb and fat heavy, and the past week I've been very conscious of what I'm eating, cutting back on the carbs (goodbye crisps  ) eating more proper, wholesome food with a general daily calorie intake of 1200-1400. I haven't exercised because of a hip issue and my doctor would come after me with a flaming torch and pitchfork if I aggravate it further until they discover the root of the problem Anyway the point of this is I stepped on the scales today out of interest and apparently I've lost 5.6lbs in a week? Is that even possible? Baring in mind my weight has barely fluctuated over the past year (only increasing ) and stayed pretty much bang on 182, and I weighed myself the same time of day as last week.
Is this just water weight taunting me with false optimism? I definitely expect it to fluctuate and change as time goes on but man it did make me smile seeing a noticeable downwards shift in the needle for the first time in a long time

Weight loss in the first week or two is normally a lot higher than normal. It will slow. Normally your first week or two after changing your diet or adding exercise is a decent chunk of water loss.0

Many people lose an awesome amount of weight the first week or two. Don't get your hopes up- it'll be lower next week. It's an awesome loss, and it's great that you've made the change, but the trend won't continue, unfortunately. It was probably quite a bit of water weight, and the shock your body got from the healthy food. Just keep it up, and you'll continue losing weight- just not as fast. You can do it0

It is perfectly normal. The first month of my diet I was losing about 4-5 lbs a week. Water weight is the first to come off and it is generally the fastest and easiest. I hit a plateau in my journey but I'm not giving up! Good luck on your journey and I hope your hip feels better soon!0
