We had a pit named Black. Of course, his full name was Black Oak Arkansas, after the band. My older two sons have a dog named Diogi at their dads.

I always wanted a Doberman named Adobe.

    How about Magic? Magnus? Magnum?

Maybe wait until you get him and he will name himself!

Black so when you call them in ppl will think you are calling the black dahlia lol

Along those lines, even though it doesn't quite fit, I was thinking Salvador.

wow love all the names you guys are coming up with! He will be a puppy. I was wondering what the german word for black was and was about to ask then I saw one of you had already came up with that! He is also mainly black with a little white on his chest. So far I think I like Samson quite a bit. I want something not only I can pronounce but also my two little boys! I probably will officially decide after we get him but want to have something in mind! I'd post his picture but I have no clue how =/

We have a female great dane named Dahlia and we are getting a black male dane in May. Any name suggestions?!?! we are having a really hard time agreeing on any.

I rescued a boxer once that was from an abused home and his original name was Tuffy (terrible name!). I figured a name change would be a good way for him to hopefully erase his past and I named him Brodie. It fit him well and he was hands down the best dog and friend I ever had. The day I had to put him down was one of the toughest in my life. So I am partial to the name Brodie :)

I actually thought about the name Garth too! (off waynes world) ALSO Great Danes are actually German not Danish. Kind of an interesting ODD fact haha.

    Ludwig
Meister means master in German - a part of my boyfriend's last name. It might go to your puppy's head. It's certainly gone to my boyfriends head!
    Otto
    Ritter
    Fritz
    Heinz
    Waldo!

This is the best list so far. Every one would be fun to yell. Faves: Otto, Fritz, Ludwig, Garth.

anyway Damian/Damien jumped out to me first as a great name that goes with Dahlia and would be like so scary on a big giant black dog kind a like in the movie but bigger dog. I like alliteration.

    other alliteration choices include

    Diesel
Derp (cause great danes can remind me of lanky awkwardness)
    Dane (yeah simple and straighforward.)
Douche (gotta be brave to use this one) (you could spell it doosh but that would be chickensh*t to some people.
D.D. (for dahlia's douche if you were sick like that which we are around here).

we had pit bull mates for awhile and we got "Buster" (renamed male) first. and when we got his mate later and he punked her for her Doghouse on the first night, we renamed her B.B. (to stant for buster's betch.)

Non alliteration things that came to mind right away were

Shyamalan. as a joke. cause night...or just
    Night.
    Guero. as a joke.

My Jack Russell came with the name Trevor. Terrible name, but he likes it. Not recommended, though. Don't use Nigel either.

Shwarz but it is a derogatory comment to some up north lol It is what they used to call negros back in the days up until segregation was starting to die I dont know if they still use it in that context but I would def be mindful of it lol

Ha, I love unlikely human names for animals, cracks me up. If I had a dog, I'd call it Larry, whatever its anatomy. Trevor is a great name for a JRT.
