I've never paid attention to B.M.I?

I have never really paid attention to my B.M.I but, apparently right now as it is, I a considered "obese".
I would need to lose 57 pounds to be in the "overweight" category which would make me be 179 pounds. In order to be healthy, I would need to lose 90 pounds. My goal weight is right in the center of the healthy weight.... (144 pounds). I have never followed the b.m.i but, I definitely am excited to get this done now that I have looked at all of the actual specs of everything!

What has kicked your butt into gear about b.m.I?

    My insurance company.
BMI is one of the 5 things we have to meet to be in the healthy range in order to keep our premiums from rising. I have 7 pound to go before I get there. I am in healthy range on the other 4 so BMI is the one thing I have to fix before we are reevaluated in early December 2013.

BMI drives me insane!! It is a very inaccurate measure of someone's health and even size. According to the BMI charts I should only weigh about 115 pounds to be in the middle. In my pictures I have multiple pictures of me. The one in which my son is standing in my pants with me, I weighed about 149lbs. I was not overweight lol. On the other hand, I still did have some weight I wanted to lose. I don't think it is right that insurance companies use those numbers. :(

Not to mention how inaccurate it is for someone with a ton of muscle!

BMI is the way to go!! Talk with an expert. Throw away your scale. If you want to measure immediate results by yourself , you could get a measuring tape and ask someone to measure you. Google what body parts are measured to *kitten* someone's body change.
But overall you can measure your wait, chest, arm, thigh.. etc.

Best of luck. I weight a ton (125') but I'm petite. Just a lot of muscle and some fat.

Bmi can be an indicator, but don't give it any real thought if its not what you think, it's based on the average joe assumptions... A bodybuilder or a person with high amounts of muscle on their frame would be classed as obese!
