Eating Dilemma

Options
Ok so here's the problem. I go to a weight loss specialist once a month and have been going since October 2012. I haven't had a problem until now when work rules have changed. According to the meal plan the doctor gave me I'm supposed to eat 8 times a day Breakfast, snack, a protein or fibre 15 minutes before lunch, lunch, snack, a protein or fibre 15 minutes before supper, supper and a snack. Out of all these meals I would have to eat the snack, protein or fibre, lunch and snack at work. The problem is we are no longer allowed to eat snacks while working and due to cameras every where now it's become impossible to even sneak a pocket snack. My two breaks at work are 15 minutes long so it's not like I can whip out a huge meal and eat it because I'm a slow eater and like I said I only have 15 minutes and I'm supposed to eat every 2 to 3 hours. Just wondering if any of you have the same problem and how you've gotten around it and or if you can think of anything I can do to get the snacks and food I'm supposed to be eating in.

Get a Dr's note stating that you have to eat at certain times ( ie a bite 15 min before you actually take your lunch) How can they refuse that?

You need to explain to the doctor that you can't snack at work and they need to re-configure your plan.

I agree with this one. If you get a note from your specialist, they will have to let you eat at the times you need to.

Yeah, if you're in the U.S. they can't legally tell you you aren't allowed to follow your doctor's orders. But they will most likely need a note.

I'm not in the US and unfortunatly I think some of my co workers would probably put up a stink about me being allowed to eat and them not just because I got a dr's note.

If you're unwilling/unable to go the doctor's note direction, then I second the suggestion to adjust things with your doc. They should be able to look at your available eating times and figure out an alternative plan for you.

Why are you supposed to eat every 2-3 hours? Are you diabetic or something?

What about bathroom breaks? Can you maybe multitask?
Do you only get two 15 minute breaks on a shift or 2 breaks plus a lunch period?
Could you "topsy turvy" your eating schedule - treat one or two snacks/breaks at work as your snack times and eat your main meals and 15 minute prior snacks either both at one end of the shift or one before and one after? Discuss with your doctor ways to make this work ("Breakfast" doesn't have to be at the beginning of the day nor "dinner" at the end.)

I would find eating 8 times a day difficult in a working environment. Personally I would feel uncomfortable eating at times when colleagues are not allowed. If it's for medical reasons then yes but if it's purely as a method to lose weight then I wouldn't.

You could drink protein shakes and/or pre-made smoothies. Drinking is not eating but it still allows you to get your calories in a healthy and efficient manner :). You can blend fruits, veggies, oats, eggs, milk, quark, or whatever you want together for quick and easy healthy meals :D.

Can you have a drink in your workspace? Maybe it is time to turn those macros into a drinkable smoothie?

tough toenails for your co-workers. If it's doctor's orders, then follow your doctor's orders. if they protest, send them to HR. What's more important to you -- your health or their problem with your health?

I looked at your profile and I'm also from Ontario. I feel like you would definitely be allowed to eat if you got a doctor's note.
