So, strength/weight training... where to start?

I've read a lot about people using strength training for the last bit of loss and toning up which is about where I am now.

Up until now, I've done a decent about of weights and body weight training with things like HIIT, yoga, POP Pilates, and barre along with my cardio. On YouTube I use FitnessBlender's HIIT workouts and noticed they have kettlebell and weight workouts.

Anyone have success with these?

What did you first start with when you began strength training and weights?

    When I first started using the weights at my gym (newbie) I would mostly just use the leg press machine, some of the other machines and loooottt of squats with 15 lb dumbbells.

    If you're really interested in strength training with a proper routine to follow, look into stronglifts or starting strength. both are beginners weight lifting programs that you do 3x a week. They focus on compound movements with barbells like squats, deadlifts and bench presses. Each session you increase the weight by 5lbs.
