Men, need you help

Hey guys,
I'm training my guy just on what iv been doing and what I have seen results from, plus he's in the army so has PT 5 mornings a week. The issue is he is not seeing any results, his core is strong but just can't budge the fat from the stomach. Do guys need to train differently to females? Is there any tips you could give me to help him loose it and tone it up?
Any advice you could give me would be great, as I'm out of ideas.

Thank you in advance.

Men and women don't have to train differently. If he's already doing PT 5 days a week, it could be that the extra workouts are putting him at much too big a calorie deficit. If he's not eating enough, then his body is going to hold on to the fat for as long as possible in anticipation of starving. Start by reassessing his caloric needs.

What are his goals? If it's weight loss that'll have more to do with diet than anything else.

If it's to be better prepared for military training and such I'd suggest doing some kind of basic weight lifting 2 or 3 times a week, and something like this:

To lose weight and tone. He's fittnes is high which is what confused me.
Ill have a look at those sites. Re-think his game plan.
  • he needs to drink more water.his weight divided by2=the ounces of water he should be drinking a day

Losing weight is going to be centered on diet.

There's a lot here, but this is a good place to start: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss

Basically he's got to get his diet in check and either maintain or increase his current amount of exercise (I'm assuming he's doing at least some resistance training on top of the calisthenics and such at PT).

I have a tremendous amount of respect for anyone in the service, and have a lot of family in the Army myself actually. If you have any more specific questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

To the OP, how long has it been? It's sounding suspiciously like you guys just started with his weight loss. You probably need to give it some more time. And if he's not counting, it hasn't even started yet

I don't really know what he eats due to many fields going on over ATM and on them they have to eat what they are given - MRI, I know are very high calories as they are designed to be. Here he cooks dinner from some healthy cookbooks we ordered online and are trying to work around what we can't help. Iv only been helping him on work outs - usual day he has PT, that's different all the time work, also doing 30 day shred and 2 hours in the gym - but with less on the weekends, generally just shred.

But today I have told him to write down everything he will eat, and drink and spoken to him about water intake.

Yes sorry I'm new at this, and is much easier on me as I showed results really fast. Before joining this site I didn't even really know what a calorie was. Sorry about my question but thank you all for your reply - we will see how it goes.

If he's a big beer drinker I would said cut out the beer. That beer belly won't go anywhere if he doesn't cut back. Not sure if this is the case but if it is....
