My Second Spinning Class....

Is it wrong that I wanted to cry after the first 5 minutes? And I'm not talking a wimper in the corner, I'm talking a full blown "WAAAAAA HAAAAAAA HAAAAAA!!!!" Kinda like my 6 month old sounds when I am too slow getting her bottle ready. There is a fine line between a good workout and just plain torture!! This workout tetered on the edge of torture!!!
Seriously, this was my second class and it was WAY HARDER than the first. I don't know why, I didn't feel sore going in, but man, Natalie kicked my butt. I had to just sit and pedal at about a 5 for the last 15 minutes. I was a little disappointed in myself, but I knew I still got a great workout. My face was as red as a tomato, sweating like crazy, body shaking, hands were so sweaty they were slipping off of the handle bars. I told all this to Natalie after the class ended and she kinda chuckled and told me that on the difficulty scale, the first class was a #1 and that she "ramped" it up to a #19! Ramped it up to a #19????? First of all, how high does this damn scale go? And second, wouldn't "ramping it up" be going from like a #1 to say a #5 or #6 on the difficulty scale?? I mean, dang!!! I'm SO scared for Tuesday's class!!!

LOL I'm confuzzled???
Does this mean there is no simple "Level 1" class??? They should have a few lower beginning or new member classes? Sheesh...Please don't die over a spin class!!! You'd think she would have told you the level of the class when you started! LOL
I did a LOT of just peddling/trying to breathe when I started my first spin class way back when...
I love that you are going back on Tuesday!!! Good luck and I love the workout updates!0 -
I just have to say that your post made me literally laugh out loud!!! Fellow Michigander here...Detroit area. Hope you're enjoying this (hopefully dryer) weather!0

Yeah, that is pretty much what I did the last 15 minutes of Thursday's class. Just tried not puke!! Ahahah!!! :laugh:I love that you are going back on Tuesday!!! Good luck and I love the workout updates!
Well, I paid $35 for the class, which is Tuesday and Thursday evenings (45 minutes) for 5 weeks. So I don't want to waste my money, but definitely should have sampled the class first. So you will just have to put up with my grumping for the next 4 weeks!!!0 -
The good thing about Spin is you can work at your own level of resistance. You don't have to ramp it up as high as the instructors. Yes, I would agree to keep it with in a good resistance, but you should never OVER DO IT! And let me tell you there is a difference between pushing yourself and over doing it.
I think instructors get all crazy sometimes and don't put into account that some people (beginners) aren't going to work at their level. You should work your way up to that! Good luck and keep on pedaling.
Spinning is really a fun and great workout!

haha... maybe all spinning teachers are just sadists? I know mine is BIG time! He likes to talk about how the people who say spinning is a joke should come to his class and he'll make them work so hard that they'll either puke or pass out... then he goes on to say that if you buck over your bike and do a headplant at the front of the classroom while you're doing standing sprints he'll just laugh at you... because he's a medic and knows he can help... lol. They like giving you PAIN! But seriously, you start to get more used to it but it's alwasy going to be one heck of a workout... you CAN always adjust your resistance to accomodate your level though. ) Anyone's instructors make them do continuous jumps??? Those are KILLER!!!0

One of our spinning instructors use to bring a super soaker to class and if he didn't think we were working hard enough, he would squirt us...CRAZY MF HAHAHA!
Of course I never got the squirt LOL! RIGHT! I loved to do the jumps. We would do them the duration of a song. Then go into climbing for the duration of another song! I should take up spinning indoors again until the weather breaks.
OMG I just realized something. I totally forgot about this. A year before I meet my husband he was a spinning instructor at a gym in Arkansas where he was stationed (Air Force). He totally fits the part, as a crazy lunatic! HAHAHH!
Now he's my full time spinning instructor on the open road, for god sakes he is a sadist...LOVE IT!

Then there was the girl who worked at Applebee's there in town and she had several kids but was a riot because this was her escape...And believe me, she acted like she had escaped! LOL I loved it there at that club.
What the heck happened to Ray anyway??? lol0 -

Dan was the best instructor ever! Bill was second in line.
