Anyone not exercise/lazy me

Hi everyone,

I am so lazy I just cannot bring myself to exercise. I can't get to the gym but could easily work out at home but I'd rather just watch tv or chat on mfp. Are any of you like me and how did you change it? Btw I'm a 5ft 10 141lb female xx

You sure you can't get to a gym or rec center? If TV or MFP is distracting, then I think physically going somewhere to get your exercise would help you focus. And think of the experiences/anecdotes you can share with your friends when you get back.

If you can't get to a gym or rec center, then try to set aside 10-15 minutes a day for an intense workout, six days a week. Just try and remind yourself that this is an investment towards a longer, better, quality of life. If you can partner this commitment with another commitment to eat as best you can, for six weeks, then you should see some results. And once you see the results, maybe the self-motivation will kick in, and you can increase the intensity of the workouts for even better progress!

First thing you do is take some pictures and measurements.

    Here's an example of a 10-15 minute workout: http://getfitguy.quickanddirtytips.com/how-to-do-a-10-minute-workout.aspx
Eat at or just below calorie maintenance, and avoid high carb foods like any dessert, french fries, and pizza for six weeks. If you go over on calories, try to make the excess come from pure protein sources.

After six weeks, take pictures and measurements...and compare.
  • I agree with the poster above me!!
To add onto that, you need to work out for a few weeks for the simple fact that you'll start to feel better and WANT (yes, want) to work out more to get better and mantain that great feeling! It's sad to call yourself lazy and if you get motivated bc you feel good, you'll see yourself physically and emotionally in a different and brighter light!

Just make time to move and get in the habit. Move while you watch TV. I run on my treadmill with a show on my iPad. I've done crunches, leg lifts, squats, etc. while watching TV. Find something fun you enjoy. Try a class. You might like blogilates.com. Cassey, the instructor, is insane peppy and fun.

I used to be lazy, too. Then I started saying I would do one Jillian Michael's DVD a day. Even if I didn't feel like it/was having an off day/wasn't into it. I just did it. They are less than 30 minutes. There is literally no excuse. The first important thing is to put your exercise clothes on and then just start. Good luck x

FInd something you enjoy. Instead of watching TV, put on your favorite music and dance.

I'm the same way, so I have to give myself incentive to get my butt off the couch.
My goal for this month is to work out at least three times a week, whether its a walk or a Zumba tape/class. It all counts. If I work out at least 20 times before May 26 and try at least one new workout (and cut out most of my soda drinking) I'll buy myself a new dress.

It can take awhile before you don't loathe the thought of working out but I can tell you, after months of not doing it, I feel really good engaging in some activity.

Lace up your sneakers, walk out the front door, and walk! That's all it takes!! Your body will eventually build up the endurance to walk further, faster and stronger, and before you know it you will LOVE exercising!
