I love running on the treadmill. The street is a whole nother ballgame. You are not alone.0

The treadmill is helping you out. You're really not running the total distance or doing the speed it tells you. All you need to do is pick up your feet and let the belt slip away underneath you. Outside you need to actually do 100% of the pushing yourself forward. This is why it's harder.
Outside is so much more fun. Personally I hate the treadmill.0 -
I like indoors better, especially in the allergy time of year.0

Do you set the treadmill to the same incline the whole time?0

Same here! Obviously running outside is harder but the whole thought of running back to where I started sucks.
The track is fun though0 -
Running is more challenging outside...also, if you really want to actually run a 5K you should train outside as much as possible...I don't know of too many 5Ks that are done on a dreadmill.
Also, why are you doing two sessions? You are putting yourself at risk for over training and injury .

prefer treadmill over running outside as I find it much easier and less distracting trying to dodge ppl (no free space where I live), However since I want to race in a 5K and hopefully a 10K by end of this year, I will start running outside once the weather improves.0

For me, I love running outside. I'd rather do anything other than running inside, but I know that many of you are the opposite. :-)0

^^This... except I don't mind the treadmill. I use it on days the weather isn't cooperating and use it for my short runs during the winter months because I like to run in the mornings, but not in the dark. But I do prefer running outside. Tend to run faster outside!0 -
I like both, but prefer outdoors. More challenge, fresh air. And after being cooped up inside for 7 months of the year, it's nice to be freeeeeeeee0

I prefer the treadmill but that's only because my only place to run is in a city. Cars are not runner friendly.0

Although it may be easier on treadmil im still doimg more work by being able to do more running time
And I tried 2 to see if I could maybe not a good idea?0 -

True - the treadmill is doing some of the work for you.
Running outside took a little getting used to, but it's so much fun and much more entertaining. Keep at it, you'll get better!
I try to use the treadmill once a week - it helps me work on my pacing. Outside, it's much more difficult to keep an even pace. A weekly treadmill session helps me subconciously remember how fast I'm supposed to be going. It works for me.0 -
I like it because
no cars or idiots on their phones
no mosquitos
no dogs
no near misses or falling on something in the street
i run early in the am, its safer.........0 -
One mile on the street/sidewalk = 2 miles on the treadmill.0

I switched back and forth as I did C25K and always found the change to be a little difficult at first after I'd been doing it the other way for a few sessions. It didn't matter whether I was going from the street to the treadmill or the other way around. It was different and didn't feel right, and different muscles would ache after. What eventually moved me outside for good (other than the end of heat wave season) was the monotony of running for long periods on the treadmill. I could motivate myself to do a 5K indoors, but a half marathon? No way.0

I don't know why, but I find it harder to run on a treadmill. I have a pretty long stride, so I find it easier to run outside because I can actually stretch my legs out and go. I just feel like the treadmill requires more effort....which is backward from what it should feel like. I feel like I can run forever outside, but I get burnt out on the treadmill around mile 5.0
