I know this sounds a bit gross, so apologies, but when I workout I sweat. I'm morbidly obese so I'm not shocked by this. However, a few minutes after workouts the sweat on my forehead makes the skin there start burning. Like it physically hurts on my skin. I just wondered if anyone else gets this or if I'm a weirdo, and if anyone has any tips on how to prevent it? Thanks :)

My face burns so badly when I sweat. I get it the worst around my nose for some weird reason. As soon as I finish my workout I go straight to the bathroom and run a face cloth under cold water and then put it over my face. Really really helps take the burning away. Or you could put a wet cloth in the fridge and it'll be even colder! Hope this helps!

I get it on my cheeks. It is getting better but I think that's cos after my shower I always put a strong moisturiser on which I think is helping.
  • Do you workout outside in the sun or really close to a light bulb? Both could do that to you, Dehydration could also be a possibility. When I use to do my 90 minute cardio sessions on the treadmill, I would sweat tons. The treadmill was located really close to a 100W light bulb. The same thing would happen to me. I finally figured it out it was the exposure to the light being so close to my face that it was doing it. I eliminated that problem.

Also, when I run outside, it sometimes does that to me. Even if I wear sunscreen. My outside runs usually range from 40 minutes to about 90 minutes. It all depends on my routine. I live in Central California. It gets really hot and there really is no way to avoid it unless I run early in the morning or late in the evening.

Do you drink enough water? It could also be linked to dehydration. Especially if you're seating tons as stated, you want to be drinking tons of water. Losing water weight is not ideal.

I know this from personal experience myself. I was working out sweat and I was getting a burning sensenation on my forehead and my cheeks. I went to the doctor finally cause it was ruining my workouts. My doctor explained that it could be a lot of things. One could be the salt intake and when you work out and sweat you are opening up your pores and there is salt in your sweat which is in turn burning your skin. Second could be medication that you are taking if any at all. So I take loads of medications and do intake a lot of salt so I did not know which it could be. I decided to try both. I decided to take my medications at different time if possible and not to intake any salt two to three hours before I knew I was going to work out. Since I work out first thing in the morning that was a good 8 hour stretch after my last meal and I would just wait til afterwards to start my meds. It really seemed to help me out a lot! I know this might not be the same for you but I hope it helps!

Hey thanks guys! I think the salt thing may be it, I do intake a LOT of salt (which is something I'm going to work on!) so this may be what's causing it. I drink water throughout all my workouts, and I will continue this. Also the wet towel thing helped haha. I'm just glad I'm not the only one!
