I've recently started TDEE -20% plus I've upped my strength and cardio. I've gone through the initial gain period that I got told to expect when you start the TDEE method and now I think I've started losing again after a very long stall!

For those of you who have been doing TDEE -20% for a while, around about how much do you lose each week/each month?

Thanks in advance!

can't you just do the math yourself?

    if TDEE = 2000 then -20% is roughly 0.8 lbs/wk

    if TDEE = 3000 then -20% is roughly 1.2 lbs/wk

    if TDEE = 4000 then -20% is roughly 1.6 lbs/wk

I lose roughly 3.5-4lbs / month with this method. Works out to about .8lbs/week on paper but that's not how my body seems to work. I will lose a pound, then stay the same for a week and half - 2 weeks and then lose 1.5lbs , etc. In the end my progress chart looks like steps and it averages out to about the 3.5 - 4lb mark a month.

I started this method about a year ago, and the losses on the scale varied greatly, so much that I have no idea how pinpoint how much a week dropped off. In fact, I went six months or so without losing any weight at all on the scale, but I was out buying new pants because the fat and inches were coming off and I had dropped a whole size - all while my weight stayed the same.

Grab that tape measure and a camera - take pictures and log your measurements - these will be your best measure of success.

I lose 1 1b average a week eating at 16-17 % deficit. Anything MORE or LESS than 16-17 % generally causes me to stall or gain... weird huh?

    How rude!

I think she was asking as per experience and not what the maths is!

My data show 1.8 lbs / week since I have been using MFP (8 weeks). I am at TDEE - 30% (working my way up). This seems to match what the scooby workshop predicts. I was in a 7 month stall prior to using MFP. Turns out I wasn't eating nearly enough calories. Still not, but I have upped my average daily intake from 1,600 to 2,000 using MFP and that has resulted in the 14 lbs weight loss.
