Do you really consistently lose every week?

I will hover around the same weight for 2/3 weeks, then go down 2 lbs....then stay there for a week, ....then go up 1 lb....then stay there for another week, then go down another lb.

I have never consistently lost weight every single week =( Makes me sad.

I can be like this too. I think it is my monthly cycle, i'll hold onto weight for a few wks then the week after my cycle
I can lose up to 3lbs in a week.

The body is a weird but wonderful thing!

As you can read all over this community: "Weight loss isn't linear".
Your body isn't a machine, you can't give x input & get x output. Everyone has their ups & downs during their journey, it's totally normal. Just don't get discouraged, you got to keep going.

Sadly, that's the way it happens to me, too. With sodium (salt) intake, fluctuating fluid retention, various levels of food/waste retained in the bowels, etc., it'll probably continue that way. So I only weigh once every week or two. That helps. But I take great solace in the fact that the general trend is down, rather than up. So let's just keep at it!

    Me too :( x
  • No, you do not lose the same amount of weight every week. But, look at the overall trend and you will see it is going down!!! I have been maintaining for 8 months and I watch the overall trend to stay +/- 1 to 2 lbs. I weigh myself every morning and do not get upset with a small gain or loss. If I "binge" then I expect to gain 3-4 lbs but... I get right back on track and get the weight off. It is how I have found to maintain. It is not the absolute number but the overall trend down for losing and constant for maintaining.

Maybe I will switch to weighing every two weeks or every month instead of every other day as I am now. It's driving me crazy
  • ive lost on average, 1.8lbs per week, i weight and take measurements every 2 weeks, and yes, i have lost very consistently !

my progress graph looks like the side of a moderately steep hill (downwards ofcourse :P). dont know how long this is going to last though but if what im doing is working why change :)
  • I Lose about 1 pound each week.. its slow but steady! I do notice a stall each month around my cycle.. just stay positive.. a loss is a loss:smile:
  • I weigh every morning and sometimes I'm up and somtimes I'm down but everyday I record my weight into an app that displays it as a chart and shows me the overall downward trend.

I do feel as though I know my body better for weighing every day and I can attribute gains and losses more easily to actions I've taken or foods I've eaten/not eaten.....

No I lose only lose 2-3 out of every 4-5 weeks, sometimes I think it's to do with monthly cycles sometimes I think it's just me having a bad week or two. I weigh in on Thursday evenings at the same time at my slimming group.

I do this too and record them on my weight on my Fitbit site that then links to an account with Trendweight.com. I don't stress over the scale and know it's going to go up and down. But I like knowing the numbers and how activities and food effect me.

I lose just about the same amount every week, until I get my period. Im on bc pills that make it so that I do not get it every month though. So im pretty sure its your cycle messing with your numbers

Keep logging everything accurately and put up the scale for a couple weeks. Trust that what you are doing will work. Weigh in every couple weeks to check progress. I think you'll be much happier and less stressed this way.

I too weighed daily just to see the fluctuations. Even though I understood why it would go up and down daily, it's still a bummer seeing it go up and can put a damper on the rest of your day. I switched to once every 2 weeks and feel much better!

No I don't, I will go weeks without loosing and then drop 4lb then go weeks again sometimes. I did work out though I still average 1lb a week which I have to remind myself of every time I get a 'maintain' on the scales.

Ah well, you may not get the 'evidence' of a cycle but you may still have one. I don't have a period but I do get one week a month where I could eat the contents of the fridge, am moody and get all the other PMT symptoms and I never lose that week.

Nope. Some weeks I don't lose. Then I suddenly go down a pound or three over the next week or so. Then nothing. Don't bother to weigh during that time of the month anymore since I can appear to have gained up to 4 pounds then! It doesn't bother me anymore.
