Why is it so hard to Lose Weight ?

Okay , So i have been cutting back on what I'm eating and I have been exercising in the morning doing the insanity work out and in the evening I go to the YMCA. There are some day that i don't keep track of my calories and there are days that I do. I have ADHD so i take Vyvanse and its suppose to help me keep calm and focus. But the bad thing is that some of its side effects are lose of weight , lose of appetite and for me i lose my appetite and i don't want to eat or i just forget to eat cause i'm focused on everything else. And i'm sure that is why its hard for me to lose weight but i need some advice on how stay on track and any suggestion to what else can help me lose weight.

I've had the best, easiest time with this weight loss journey than I've ever had before. And I've fought my weight since I was in kindergarten! The thing I"m doing different this time is simply eating FRUITS, VEGGIES, and healthy proteins. I do track my calories and use PORTION control. I'm walking . . . usually just wear a pedometer and try to get 10,000 steps in a day. My steps might be making 10 trips across the house to put up my laundry, rather than carrying the WHOLE laundry basket in one trip. My steps might be taking a lap around the kitchen for every plate I put away from the dishwasher. My steps might be making a lap around the porch instead of standing and watch the bucket of water fill up, etc. I've had the best luck with this approach. When I reach my goal weight, then I will start "working out" to tone up and building muscle. Good luck!
  • Thank you and Good Luck to you to.
  • if only it came off as easy as it goes on, with the support that people give you here and the tools you will get where you want to be, good luck.
  • First things first, if you're doing Insanity, cutting back on food is not going to set you up for success. If you want to get results from the program, you need to follow the nutrition plan. Also keep in mind that Insanity is not a weight loss program, however if you play your cards right with the nutrition plan, you can reap the benifts if graining lean muscle and losing fat. What you eat regardless of whatever fitness program you're doing is 80% responsible for how you look. You will never lose weight until you're serious about your nutrition. Continue taking your meds as per your doctor, you can beat the system and become healthy again through nutrition, however you have to give the process time.

    U wot m8?

You can put on muscle (or at the very least minimize muscle loss while dieting) if you start lifting now. If you wait until you're at your goal weight it will be much harder to put on muscle and you'll probably have to put on some fat to do it.

Ifit kills your appetite it should help you lose weight. That's why doctors give their obese patients phentermine (another stimulant medication) to aid in their weight loss. I was on Daytrana (methylphenidate/Ritalin transdermal patch) when I was in high school and I lost tons of weight. I'm 5'8" and I was well under 100lbs. People used to joke that they could see my organs through my skin. I don't see how you've made some connection between loss of appetite and weight gain. That whole "eat more to lose weight" is valid but not the only option. If you ate 100 calories a day every day you wouldn't break the law of thermodynamics and somehow gain weight, you'd lose weight.*

*Totally not advising you do this, just stating that this would result in weight loss. You'd also be miserable, sick, and tired and could possibly die if you did it for a prolonged period of time.

I agree with what justsomerando said.

Forget about programs you see on TV, most of the time it doesn't work.

If you have time to go to YMCA, just start doing 30min cardio session and starting lifting weights. Don't be shy to ask around the gym for help (from others gym members). Most of the time people are willing to help you out even if the looks intimidating.

Gaining muscle mass will also help you shed the weight faster even if it's a little mass.

But most importantly is self-discipline, no one can help in that field but you. All i can say to you is after a month of consistency at your dieting and training, it'll become a habit and no longer a chord. And don't rely too much on the scale to see your improvement, use the mirror.

    Good luck!
