Pregnant with second child

I have been very successful with MFP in the past. I just recently found out I am pregnant with second child. I want to be healthy this time around and want to still use MFP. I am still a little overweight with about 30-40 pounds to lose. I currently work out 3 days a week at the least, and this was OK by my doctor. And I know that I only need to eat an extra 300 calories. Has anyone out there used MFP while they were pregnant with successful results? Ex. Keeping weight off, staying health balanced diet, losing weight, and any tips.

I'e been successful with mfp, after having my first child, I lost 25 of the sixty pounds I gained when I had her. However, I want to be healthy with my second child throughout the pregnancy. right now I am about 30 to 40 pounds overweight, and at risk for pregnant diabetes, I don't want to gain anymore excessive weight thru my pregnancy (i'm talking sixty to eighty pounds here people, I know I'm going to gain some weight, by getting pregnant). I am already eating healthier, it's the exercise that I need to work on. I am not as active as I was when I was pregnant with my first. (hello active cna, to stay at home mom, with part time, not very active job.)
Not only Do I want to get healthy for my kids, I want to do it to support my husband, who has jumped on the mfp bandwagon who has 100+ lbs to lose, if I stop my healthy habits, I'm afraid it's going to put him back into a tailspin.
Please, any advice would be helpful.0 -
I don't know if this answers your questions. I was not aware of MFP 5 years ago while pregnant. But I was an AMA mom and I desperately wanted to do the right thing for my baby. I read the WTE book and the chapter on what can go wrong scared the bejeezus out of me. But this chapter boiled down to one thing: of all the things we can control in a pregnancy, preeclampsia is the the biggie. So: I cut out salt and substituted carrots for chips and yogurt for cookies. I walked every day (my husband read on-line that walking gives a cardio-vascular workout to the baby too, helping to make it stronger for the delivery). Yes, I was overweight when I got pregnant and I gained about 25 lbs during pregnancy. But I met my goal weight during pregnancy and I had no gestational diabetes or preeclampsia.
Good luck to you and congratulations on your approaching new one! :flowerforyou:
Also, I know this doesn't work for everyone, but the pounds MELTED off me while breastfeeding! :happy:0 -
I am going on my 14th week with my first pregnancy. Been using MFP most days with good results. My doctor suggested 2,300 calories a day total (not eating back calories) and I have been doing well with that. I started the pregnancy at 137 and am 142 now, so just 5 pound gain which is on target.
I find MFP very helpful. I don't fret about it or get crazy. But it is nice to check in at the end of the day and make sure I am hitting my calcium and calories that I need. I only want to gain the rec. 25-35 pounds during this pregnancy. I will use MFP once baby is here as well so I can get back to my normal size quick0 -
I got pregnant four months after my first baby. I lost the weight I gained during the pregnancy by then, but still had 20 lbs extra.
My second pregnancy I gained 8 lbs. Three of those in the first six months only. I biked a lot and have an active job. There's nothing wrong with losing weight while pregnant! Just be upfront with your doctor and don't strain yourself!0
