Drain it, press it, and marinade it. Tofu will soak up marinade like crazy if you get enough moisture out of it.

Every time I try to make tofu it comes out terrible! It's really good when it's prepared correctly, but it doesn't seem like it's often prepared correctly.0

If you're using firm tofu cut it into squares. Fill a bag with your favorite seasonings and shake it all up, then bake or saute. Or just douse it with soy sauce and eat it cold, or bake, or saute. Eat it cold or hot with a good vinaigrette. Shake it up with brewers yeast or breading, add salt and bake or saute. I have a recipe book that describes tofu as the magical ingredient. Sounds silly, I know, but it is really versatile.
ETA: I don't have as much experience with soft or silkened tofu. But in the past I've just treated it like scrambled eggs, added onions and garlic + a little salt while sauteing.0 -

marinade mix it up let it sit while youre at work and then do a simple pan fry voila! Tofu is great it takes on the flavors of whatever you want it to.0

what the others have said about draining and marinading it...
also, i read to "dry fry" it... cut it up, drain it, then... dry fry it.... then marinade it or do whatever you're doing with it. Tried it once and it did seem to help.
this is my favorite way to eat tofu. it's scrambled up like eggs and you can add or delete veggies as you wish. also, you don't need nutritional yeast if you don't have it. (i've always made it with just the olive oil, tofu, and the spice blend, plus garlic & onion seasoning)

I've tried. I've failed. I've walked away from the tofu.
Until now, reading the tips above makes me want to give it yet another go.0 -
Toss in corn meal, sautéed in olive oil till crispy (10 min) add veggies ( snow peas, carrots, ect...) add fresh ginger and garlic cook 4 min. Add low sodium soy and Chinese rice wine ( 1-2 tbs each) cook 2 mins. Enjoy0

I've been cooking with Nasoya Lite Firm tofu for a long time, but just this past week I gave freezing a try. Drain and press your tofu, then put in a freezer bag and freeze overnight. Thaw it out the next day and re-press. It really firms up. Cut into 4 "cutlets". Then, brush a mixture of lite soy sauce and liquid smoke on them. It soaks right in. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, flip over and bake another 5. They are AMAZING and I don't want it any other way now!0

I find it takes on the flavours of the rest of the dish.
You could marinade it as mentioned previously or try a tofu that is pre flavoured, I like clear spot organic.
