Proof that weight training will not make girls bulky

Hellllooooo Lifters!!!

I just wanted to let y'all know that I am turning 31 years of age next Tuesday! I have just posted up a photo on my Facebook page "THE BAKING MAD GYM ADDICT" of how I looked at aged 21 when I was just doing cardio.

I would not say I was a large girl at 21 but you can definitely see the difference in my body now that I have started lifting weights (and I only really started lifting in the last year) Hello lines, lumps and bumps!.

Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. The photo actually makes me look forward to the next 10 years at how much my body will look if I continue this path

I hope y'all are having a wonderful day!

This is the link here for anyone that is interested

PS - if anyone can tell me how to add a picture to one of these forums please let me know as I worry that I will get into trouble with MFP for mentioning my facebook page!!! I am hopeless at these forum thingys! Where is the paperclip icon to add pictures???

LIFT HEAVY. GO HARD OR GO HOME!

xXx

You look amazing! Way to go :-D. I couldn't agree more that weight training is the way to go. I was a cardio fanatic for years, but it wasn't untill I was introduced to real weight training I really started to see changes in my body.

Lift like a man, look like a goddess!

You look amazing! Sadly, you will have women still say that they gained 10 pounds of muscle and got bulky within 2 months of lifting. Ugh.

Yay, I finally found your page on Facebook. You rock!

I'm sure you have shared this somewhere but I can't find it . . . what is your lifting routine?

Just out of curiousity (and if you are comfortable sharing) - what is your approximate weight in the first and second pictures?

I second this statement! Typically women can only gain 0.5 lbs of muscle a month if they are doing everything right. And those that claim to be "bulky" just need to cut the bodyfat some and they would see the nice muscle underneath! I was one of those girls that thought I was "bulky"....turns out I was just carrying more fat than I thought!

Nice! Yeah for weight training....I personally LOVE it!
  • It is extremely difficult for even a man on a very high cal diet to put on two pounds of muscle a month. 10# for a woman isn't even feasable (I wish), but ten pounds of water weight is slightly possible.

and those are only newbie gains that will stop after 6 months or so of training. after that it's even harder to gain muscle. so 2 lbs of muscle a month is a very limited deal.

    Awesome transformation :flowerforyou:

YUP Go heavy or go home! Love that saying! I will say that I've been lifting a long time. Since 2000 seriously and only had a few hiatus due to personal crisis or pregnancies. Not until I joined MFP was I able to learn how to reveal the muscle I'd been working on over the years. MFP makes it really easy to figure it all out and put lifting and diet together. Wish I had discovered it back then! If it was even around, lol.

Anyway, looks like you have a lifetime of lifting ahead of you. I know I do. Lifting.
