First Harry Potter and First Lord of the Rings.

^^ plus Shrek and Hannibal. Hannibal was the only one actually caught in first run theaters. The rest I watched for buck fifty in the old second run theater my freshman year in college. Ahh the memories :D

I had to look up a list, only to realize, I evidently didn't go to the movies that year. I still haven't seen very many of them, twenty some odd years later!

    Big year for disaster films.

Independance Day & Twister were the two top grossing movies that year.

Also, Baz Luhrmann's version of Romeo & Juliet came out which was another big movie.

Rain Man was the #1 Blockbuster (top grossing) of 1988, but for me it was 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit', which was number 2.
