The Beatles! Their music is nothing to write home about.....

Oh, and I'll probably get flamed for this (considering this person isn't a band), but... Michael Jackson. Yeah, I said it. What's the fascination?

I have to agree a bit on the Beatles. I really love some of their compositions, but I think a great deal of the material is overrated. I also tend to like covers of their music much more than their originals.

As for Michael, no, Michael is God. XD

Actually, MJ's appeal extends far beyond his talent as an entertainer. His unique personality, extreme kindness and purity is what set him apart from anyone else. It's impossible to describe Michael or the "fascination" with just a few paltry words because he's a brilliant haze of so many things. You just can't put him into any preordained box, he broke all the stereotypes of gender, race, age and even celebrity. What frustrates me is that people often don't talk about Michael in an all-encompassing way, when he demands that.

In terms of just the music though, Michael has consistently created and performed at a peak level. There's something to love in each "era" of Michael Jackson. I feel like people who don't like his music just haven't heard the right song. Or maybe you just don't like R&B/disco, I dunno. He's actually kind of touched on everything genre wise except for country, (he's even in a reggae song). Listen to "Carousel", it's currently one of my favourite MJ tracks and it's an unreleased song from the Thriller-era. I think it's perfect and I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't like it, lol.

As for other bands/artists I could do without. Lil Wayne, I can't stand him (and I like some hip-hop/rap), he's just beyond annoying. I'd say Lady Gaga, but some of her music has grown on me. She's still quite overrated, and she tries way too hard to be "weird".

Also, almost any current R&B artist. Usher, Neyo, Chris Brown, Trey Songz. Yaaawn.

Adele, too. I LOVED "Rolling in the Deep" when it first came out, but I'm pretty burnt out on it now. Some of her other stuff I find genuinely irritating and boring.

I would have said Bieber, One Direction and some others, but since the thread said bands that "everyone" loves, I don't think those count so much. I'm pretty sure Bieber's audience is mostly limited to female tweens.

Someone said The Village People, I wasn't aware they had such a huge following either, lol.
