Getting started again!

Everybodies stories and pictures are so inspiring!! So heres my story. When my husband and I first met, I weighed about 100-110lbs. I was a tiny little thing (I'm also about 5ft). Shortly after him and I got together, I got pregnant. With the pregnancy came the craving and obvious weight gain. Towards the end I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, which added more weight.... Right after having my daughter I weighed in at 195!! It was horrible. I tried doing the fad diets, working out more, everything. The problem I was having was my husband lol. I was trying to be motivated to lose the weight, but with slow progress and him eating burgers and fries in front of me, I lost my motivation. My husband is NOT a small guy! I kept trying to talk him into getting motivated with me, but he never got there. Its truly something you have to set yourself up for and really only YOU can change yourself into what you want to be. Then, a close friend of ours was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He's a bigger guy too, but not as large as my husband. After that I sat down with my husband and told him "Hey, look whats happening to him, do you really think that cant happen to you? You have a 2yr old daughter, don't you want to watch her grow up?" I wasn't trying to be mean, but I don't want to lose my husband and I saw him getting motivated himself, but kinda lost as to not knowing where or how to start.

Its only been a week and a half since we started eating right and just walking around for a bit. But in that week, he's lost 10lbs and I've lost 9. I was more excited that I've gone from 178, to 169. I love seeing the 6 instead of 7 there and Im going to work harder to see that 5 instead of 6. My ultimate goal is 115-120, but for now id love 165, then 160 etc.

Sorry I kinda rambled on lol, but im so excited that my husbands on board with me this time! Its like I KNOW I can do this now and not just HOPE I can!

Wow, that is an AMAZING start! The best reward is having more energy and being ready for whatever life throws at you. Good luck to you and your husband!!
  • I too had pre-eclampsia during my pregnancy, I gained 3 or so lbs a week until I delivered at 36 weeks. I had a very scary pregnancy and delivery which lead to emergency surgery and 4 pints of blood. I thought after I had my daughter I would just simply lose the weight easy. Which I may have had my thyroid held up. I now suffer from hypothyroidism, which makes it hard to lose weight. Please feel free to add me I need all the motivation I can get. Thanks for sharing :)

Wow, I didn't have PreE too badly until closer to the end, I always showed signed, but it didnt get bad until week 34 or so. So I was also gaining 3lbs a week from that. I also had thyroid issues! So it didn't matter how much I dieted and excersised, I maintained my weight and sometimes dropped a pound or two. I went to my dr and told him I think I have issues with my thyroid (It also runs in my family, so I had knowlege about it) and he asked me "Why would you think that?" like I was lying. Long story short, I was right and go put on meds.... After about 3 months, I didn't need them anymore and Im able to lose the weight a little easier. I too thought 'oh I can lose this baby weight easy!' haha NOT!
