carb refeed

I am about to embark on a 48 hour carb refeed aiming to hit about 1600g of carbs in that period. That is a **** load of carbs. In the past I have used:

rolls
lucozade
bread
pasta
jam
ice cream
pancakes
oats
rice crispies
skittles

ideas as I am not looking forward to this

    That's going to be tough.

IIRC it is advisable to keep fat intake low (like 50g or so) but also keep fructose intake low if at all possible (because of its negative impact on leptin and raising leptin is kind of the point of a carb up.)

Huge amounts of pasta, bread, potatoes etc seem to be in order as well as keeping well hydrated.

    Good luck.

yeah keeping fat very low is recommended but im gonna put that up a touch too - body fat is not an issue on this one

If you're not too worried about body fat then stuff like dried fruit or fruit juice may help as well. The problem here is sheer volume of food to get through otherwise!

The theory (from a dieting perspective that is) that if you have a few days of low carb (which is a quite common dieting strategy particularly for preparing for fitness competition) then every few days or weekly you have a very high carb day. This is said to prevent metabolic down regulation as a result of dieting particularly leptin.

You eat a little over maintenance, keep fat and fructose low but eat a lot of carbs.

Rice cakes, Frosted Shredded Wheat. 1 serving is 55g of carbs with under a gram of fat.
