New with lots to lose and fibromyalgia sufferer

Hi everyone. I joined a few days ago and have been finding logging what I eat really useful. I have lost 4lbs in the last 2 weeks which I'm quite happy with.
I currently weight 240lbs and want to eventually get to 160lbs, so quite a bit to lose.
The most difficult thing is that I suffer from fibromyalgia, so I don't get out and about much and a lot of exercise is impossible for me. At the moment, I use the Wii most evenings and the game Wii fit to burn some calories.

Welcome to MFP. Well done on the weightloss so far, I completely understand where you are coming from on the exercise front. I don't have fibro but do have EDSIII and associated conditions (chronic fatigue, autonomic dysfunction and so on). Just do what you can even if it is only a few minutes, then slowly pace the activity upwards. That's what they recommended at the rehab course that I was on, find your baseline (how much you can do BEFORE you get tired and in pain) then you know where you are starting from. Slowly increase that over time and if you have a flare up of symptoms drop back down to baseline for a few days.
I'm usually around unless I'm bedbound for a few days. So throw me a friend request if you like I'm more than up for answering questions and such. Good luck with the weightloss and hopefully getting more healthy in the process!0 -
Hello,
I am also a fellow Fibro sufferer. I have a really hard time exercising but I'm finding that riding my bike is nice. I go for a short bike ride with my son after school/work and it's something. I just went off Lyrica because I found out that it contributed to the weight gain. I had to wean myself which was frustrating but I'm determined to lose the weight and won't let the fibro hold me back.0 -
Hey
I also suffer from fibromyalgia. It sure makes exercise difficult, doesn't it? I've found that doing really low impact aerobics and other low impact exercises helps a lot. Start out slowly and build it up. With fibromyalgia, getting into shape will take much longer than normal so don't beat yourself up if you can't do it right away. I started working out by searching for videos on youtube (I search for "low impact workouts" and scan through the results to find what works for me.) This is a good one for fibro: http://youtu.be/iC_UG8yVGOw
Feel free to add me as a friend! The more support we have the better, right?0 -
I have frbromyaliga to. I have found walking is the best for me. You can go on youtube and search for Leslie Sansone. She has several fitness/walking videos on there. I use them 3x a week.0
