For snacks I like: roasted chickpeas, cucumber or apples and cheese, pear and feta, carrots with peanut butter, banana, boiled eggs
meals: a protein with lots of veggies like red peppers, mushrooms, onions, celery, broccoli and some rice/potato or pasta

please share about roasted chick peas - do you use any olive oil or seasonings? what temp and for how long?0

I eat chicken and very lean beef (90/10 or 93/7 if I can get it). Oatmeal, brown rice, and egg whites are also really great too.0

Well, I'm currently living in a situation where I don't have control over the food. Only portion size so for me, I've strictly ate less of some unhealthy, often times processed foods. (And while I LOVE healthy foods, sometimes some of these unhealthy foods are yummy. Hot dogs being *one* example.)
If I had a choice...- Whole roasted chickens with veggies.
- Making a pot of soup/chili/stew a week (pea, bean, chicken, veggie, beef, white chili, red chili)
- Shrimp/steak/chicken on salads
- Veggie/bean/fruit/pasta salads (separate, not together!)
- Veggie and pita dips (hummus, guacamole)
- Fajitas/tacos
- Tuna or egg on crackers or celery
- Trail mix (aka buy two bags of dried fruit, add nuts)
- Breakfast: eggs and potatoes (I've been trying to give up toast, it's a lot of fat and carbs and it's not as essential to me, it was more of a thing I did because that's what you do). Pancakes and french toast (can be done on calorie budget), I would omit butter and cooking oil and use fruit to top. Oats. Cold cereal (I only like healthy and boring kinds so this works).
- Yogurt is usually a good snack. There are so many to choose from. Don't just go for the "diet" kind without a little trial and error of all the wonderful kinds (but if the diet kind's the kind you like, it won't kill you).
- Rice. I love rice. I'm excited to finally one day try quinoa, too.
Two places off the top of my head where I usually find awesomeness is Ellie Krieger's website (just add .com) or @ foodnetwork.com/Ellie-Krieger/ or www.skinnytaste.com. Also, pinterest.com and of course here on these boards and my FL here.
That all if your doing a complete 180 from junk to not junk.
You can still eat junk (they're gonna have to pry the hot dogs out of my cold, dead, skinny hands and if the hot dogs kill me, so be it. I'll die knowing I enjoyed them). YMMV. It's seriously all at matter of taste. What do you love? What do you hate? What have you always wanted to try?0 -

I use one can of eden organic chickpeas- it would work with kind but I just know how much to use with this can. i drain and rinse and use 1 table spoon of evoo, and 1/4 teaspoon of cumin, paprika, curry, garlic powder, ginger- or any spice combo and spread them out on a baking sheet and cook at 425 for 15 min, give them a shake around and another 15.
when i have a sweet tooth same thing only some cinnamon and a touch of sugar0 -
I like the Turkish Shepherd Salad. I just use cucumber, red onion, crumbled feta with olive oil and red wine vinegar for the dressing.0

My diary is open, you're welcome to check it out. I love yogurt parfaits with fruit, nuts and cereal, PB2, whole grain bread / pasta in moderation, egg whites with a little low fat cheese, chicken, fish, fresh juice (I have a juicer), fruit and salads. I'm not always spot on with my macros but I'm at or under my calories on most days. I'm steadily losing 1-2 pounds a week. I also work out 45 minutes 5 days a week.0
