Hi all,
I am fairly new on here and when I input my desired weight loss into MFP calculator as 1lb per week I have been given me 1300 cals per day. I am struggling to stick to that so I have found a website to calculate my BMR and TDEE as advised on other members posts, but now I have them what do i do with them??
My BMR is 1439 and my TDEE is 1979. Do I take it that if I eat somewhere between the two I will lose weight?
Thanks for any advise.
Jennie

Eat your TDEE minus 20-10%. 20% if you have more to lose, 10% if you have a little to lose.0

I will tell you this: eating the calories given to me on MFPis the only way I have lost weight in sometime. I too struggled with my calorie allottment (which I can increase slightly with exercise) in the beginning. But know I find it easier because I'm simply eating better. Instead of having a morning "snack" I may have a piece of fruit. Hang in there you'll get it.0

This has always confused me too. I've done loads of research and still can't get my head around it. I'm on 1310 calories a day - my own set amount, as mfp 1650 was too much for me, and though I'm not gaining weight, I'm not losing either. Maybe I'll see what advice you get and try it out. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.0

how long did you try MFPs set amount before you decided it was too much?0 -
To loosely answer your question, yes you will lose weight if you eat between your those 2 figures.0

2 months. I was always uncomfortably full. After looking back through my diary, it was actually 1510 cals.0 -
I too have to keep my calories low - 1200 to lose and 1400 to maintain!!! It is not much. Are you exercising?? I log fort, exercise and weight in MFP. It will add your exercise calories to daily calorie intake allowed. This is the only way to get extra calories to eat a little more. I eat A LOT of lettuce as this is low in calorie and fills me up. I usually put my protein on a LARGE salad and use plain balsamic vinegar (not vinaigrette, NO OIL) and watch your type of protein as some have a lot of calories. Also, weigh your protein - 4-6 ounces is not very much.
Sorry I can't give any other advice. I am female, short, small and 53 yrs old and I think that is life.0
