Hi! New here - American in the UK

Hi there. I'm new to MFP and I like it because, as an American in the UK, it's hard to find a weight loss site that covers both American and UK food. This site so far seems to be doing that.
I'm 48, Type II diabetic and I've always been overweight - I was born overweight :-) I currently weight 200 pounds. I'm not into fad diets and I believe that the only way to crack this thing is through proper eating and exercise. My biggest problem is that I have not been able to go below 190 pounds in my adult life EVER. So I'm shooting for 180 and hoping for the best. If I can get there and maintain it, then I might try for more.
The thing that is really motivating me is that I'm an older mom. I am 48 with a 5.5. year old daughter. I worry that I won't be here for her when she's a young adult if I don't take care of myself now. And that is motivation indeed!
Are there any other US expats/older moms who might want to be 'friends' for inspiration and support?

Hi! the UK is super hard for dieting but the good thing is the weather allows for walking. How are you doing?
