Yes you are correct - with only 10 lb to lose you should be netting 1200 minimum. With such a small amount to lose you should only be aiming for around 1/2lb loss per week to ensure you are losing fat and not lean body mass.0 -
you need to eat your calories. under eating can hurt you especially if you workout.
you dont have to eat the calories you burn. but at least eat 1200 calories if you dont wanna eat more than that.0 -
700 calories NET is way too low. Even MFP recommends a NET calorie amount of 1,200 cal, and that's still very few.
So yes, eat at LEAST the 1,200 calories a day, NET!0 -

If she won't eat the calories she burns, she'll still be netting around 700 or so, depending on how much she burns.
1,200 net calories (LEAST) is the way to go.0 -
You know you will actually lose weight faster if you eat more0

Work out how much you should really be eating here and then change your goal on MFP.

Tricksee, I love seeing your response to say many of these posts. I love the way you've made it so simple (which it really us, it just takes some of us a while to understand that eating more makes sense). :happy:0 -

I urge everybody to respond to the "I'm eating 1200 calories and not losing'" threads with the exact same sentence.0 -

Don't be too upset. Your body is a clever thing and can fix itself. Slowly up your calories, lady! +100 each week until you begin maintaining weight.0

I was in exactly the same boat as you; i was on less than 1000 a day and couldn't work out why i wasn't losing. Everyone kept telling me to up my calories, and i refused; in my mind, that just didn't make sense and i was terrified i would gain. But in the end, i got so desperate i decided to try it because nothing else so far had worked. For weeks i was on less than 1000, i was constantly hungry, which made me feel fatigued and led to mood swings and general over-emotionalness. Since Monday, i've upped my calories intake to 1200. I've eaten three meals a day, with a couple of little snacks, making sure dinner is quite light and eaten early rather than later and since Monday i've lost almost three pounds!
The strange thing is, looking at my log, is that even though i feel like i'm eating more, i'm eating three meals a day and i'm very rarely hungry, that most days i still have calories left over, (i also do a lot of exercise as i'm without a car at the moment so i do a lot of walking, as well as the gym). And the important thing is that this is a lifestyle i know i can keep up, unlike my previous 'starve-then-binge' routine which i will admit i followed for several years, (yes, i've had on/off eating problems too, it's very hard to break out of so i feel your pain), which did nothing but make my weight yo-yo and screw up my metabolism.
So yep, it may sound crazy and terrifying, but i can PROMISE yoy that upping your calories here is the best way to go.
And if you want any advice, or just someone to moan at about it, feel free to message; as i said, i've been in your boat and it is worrying xx0 -
thanks will start as from today wish me luck x0

I don't know how anyone manages on 1200 cals per day. It must be agony to eat this little and maintain energy for brain and body!
Up those cals and be healthy as well as aiming for your ideal weight!!0 -

I lived on 1200 or less for many months till I learned better from my doctor. It was easy to do. I ate totally clean. Now I eat clean plus some treats as well. We can only do what we know until we are told and learn.0
