Very Bizarre Question... "Chew & Spit"

Hi everybody! I am new to this site, and new to dieting and I can't tell you now awesome and informative this site/forum is!!!
Anyway, my question revolves around the "Chew & Spit." For those of you who don't know what that is, it is exactly what it sounds like. You have a ridiculous craving for a food that is horrible for you. But instead of eating it... you chew it to get the taste, and then you spit it out.
Keeping in mind that you are not substituting this for a meal, and you are still getting all of your daily nutrition, is this a healthy or unhealthy practice in your opinion? (mentally or physically unhealthy?)
Thanks for your opinion!

In my oppinion it's gross...lol I see it this way, if you have a craving for something horrible for you, just EAT it in moderation and then go burn it off with exercise. I have tried the whole chew and spit thing once b4 b/c an ex-bf's mother suggested it :noway: Anyways, it didn't do it for me...lol I need to swallow my food to feel like I ate it!

That is gross. plus food begins to be digested in your mouth where enzymes in your saliva break begin to break down the food, so doing this would not be completely void of calories. Why not just go for a run so you can actually eat and enjoy that item you are craving?0

This is a "disordered eating" habit. So I would recommend against it for "mental" health reasons.
also, ewww.

Good... I'm glad you all agree with me!0

I agree. This doesn't sound like a healthy thing to do while in a "healthy lifestyle"
Definitely just enjoy the treat in moderation instead!! Food is our friend!! It doesn't deserve to be chewed up and spit out! :laugh:0 -
additionally, from what I've been told (somehow the conversation came up between my mom and I some years ago, she mentioned that Mama Cass had tried this method). You don't feel satisfied unless you swallow.
There is something psychological or physical about swallowing food that satisfies a hunger or a craving, the taste on the tongue is not enough.
I haven't tried it to know if it's true, but....0
