do i really have to force myself to go to bed after my dinner just so i don't eat copious amounts of fruit? that is no life surely?
i bought 2 packs of nuts today, brazil nuts and walnut halves..... my plan was to have a handful per night - well my plan failed and i greedily eat both 2 bags tonight!! plus a load of fruit, about 6-7 apples, orange and 3 kiwis. For dinner i had a reasonable size chicken breast with a load of brocolli - my plate was full.
I just don't understand, i dont know how to overcome this? my only hope is i didnt even think about reaching for the chocolate.
I did an insanity workout this morn , dont know if this is relevant?

I'm no expert, but since you're a guy, if my husband ate just meat and veggies, he would be craving carbs. You might try adding some brown rice or some other grain (preferably gluten-free) to your meal.
On the other hand, perhaps it's all in your head. I mean, not being able to stop is typically a mental thing, at least in my case. You might try the form of intermittent fasting where you eat only during a certain window of time (in my case, that's two meals: 9:30 and 2:30) and not eat the rest of the time (with justified exceptions, such as an energy bar before my early-morning workout, or a glass of fiber before bed).
But maybe neither of those ideas will work and someone else will have a better one that will.0 -

I guess the username threw her off.
Anyway, I agree. Maybe have some whole grains or beans or potato/sweet potato with your meal. And make sure you get some fat in there, too. Put olive oil on your broccoli or something. Protein + fiber + fat are the fullness trinity in my experience.0 -
If I were you, I'd up my calorie count a bit. When I was only having 1200 calories per day, it was killing me! I would always be hunger, then cave & go WAY over my calorie count -- like, another day's calories' worth.
Now that I've bumped it up to 1280, it makes a little difference. I give myself one day off per week so that if/when I go over, I don't let it bother me.
Also, walking gives me more calories, which I thoroughly enjoy! I rarely eat back all of the calories I've burned. But, if I'm hungry, I go for a 30 minute walk, and then I can eat more
Finding more filling, light calorie snacks is essential. For me, banana smoothies & popcorn does it. It's like 400 calories, which really isn't that low, but it's SO filling! And, getting to eat popcorn is always a win!
You can do it! Don't give up, and just keep at it, bit by bit

Try a casein protein shake..or some oatmeal ( or you can mix the two together). Those always help me stay full longer..0

When I don't eat enough for breakfast, I crave food all day. I saw in your diary that you had a small breakfast, small lunch, then big dinner. I think that's why you want to eat after dinner. Try having a bigger breakfast and see what it does.0

Try eating more earlier in the day.0

I'm a night time eater too. I actually feel sick if I eat too much too early in the day. The evening is when I like to eat the bulk of my calories. I've tried eating bigger breakfasts but I always wind up feeling sick all morning and then ravenous by dinner time. So while the PPs are right that you might want to try eating more earlier, it's not for everyone.
Anyway, sometimes when I'm still hungry after dinner I make myself a virgin "bloody mary." I mix a few drops of habanero sauce (or tabasco sauce) and worcestershire sauce with a little can of low sodium V8. I usually add a crack of pepper and a celery stick. It comes out to under 35 calories and usually fills me up.0 -
I'm so sorry! The picture is so tiny from here, and after reading the user name, I didn't bother trying to look closer. Sorry!0

looking at your diary it seems you need more carbs preferable more slow digesting carbs like whole grains.0

I ate breakfast yesterday and today and don't feel so hungry at night (normally I am starving at night)..0

Are you *hungry* after dinner, or do you still *feel like eating*? I need to pay attention to the difference, since I'm used to having a multi-course dinner as my main meal of the day, and I've come to expect that the main course will be followed by a salad and cheese or dessert. Part of deciding to lose weight for me involved thinking of that kind of dinner as a luxury, not the normal pattern. (I keep the salad, because it's almost no calories and full of vitamins, but I've generally ditched dessert or cheese most nights.)
If you're genuinely hungry, try drinking water (I find fizzy water works well); if that doesn't work, then air-popped popcorn without butter, celery, or pickles are good ways to fill up without adding many calories.
All this presumes that you're not trying to lose too much too quickly. If you're running a big calorie deficit, hunger is your body's way of telling you that you're starving. Some hunger is normal--after all, any diet is a form of voluntary starvation. If you're always hungry, though, you might be going too fast.0 -

I peaked at your diary and yea, that was a lotta nuts . Personally I wouldn't keep big bags of them in the house at this point LOL. maybe buy single servings even if more pricey.
I noticed your dinner did seem a bit light, and I'm not surprised you were still hungry. I didn't notice a salad, I've been eatting a big salad with lunch and dinner, usually spinich and a handful of shredded cabbage ~ that's really quite filling. I top with a low cal yogurt dressing (not sure if it's for sale buy you, Bolthouse Farms brand, only 35 ~ 45 calories for 2 tbs of either blue cheese or ranch and it tastes good!). I sometimes even put whatever sauce is for dinner on my shredded cabbage and treat it like a starchy carb.
Maybe add a sweet potato or brown rice? Or even an egg. Or more chicken.0
