I've lost about 50lbs over the last year. The last 3 months I havent lost a single lb. I weight train 3 times a week and do 45 mins of cardio 5 times a week. Im a 150lb 5'9 21 year old female and I eat about 1350 cals a day. I have a very good diet consisting of fish, fruits, veg, nuts, seeds, and limited whole grain carbs. I only drink water and green tea too. I've become so upset with not losing any weight that i've given up and gained 10lbs. I really need some help and motivation to get back into the swing of things. This whole weight loss journey is getting me so down! Any advice would be great.
Thank you!!
Thank you!!

Eat at maintenance for a month and then get back to it. Your body may need a break. Then, start calorie cycling- if you usually eat 1500 per day times that by 7 and eat a different amount each day. It keeps your body guessing!0

That sounds like what I went through.
If you are eating well, then change your exercise routines.
Increase the intensity with more reps and when you're about to give up, do 2 more!
Your body needs to be pushed harder to change.
Good luck!0 -
I'd suggest increasing ur caloric intake. Based on ur stats & exercise routine, ur body may be going into starvation mode. U'll burn muscle & hold onto fat. I was at a plateau when eating 1200cal. I increased to 1800 & started losing weight.0

Your TDEE for "lightly active" and then subtracting your calories for losing 2 pounds per week.. you should be eating at 961 calories per week before exercise. Of course MFP says never to go below 1200, but thats your TDEE for your height, weight and age.
If i put you in for Moderately active, you would still be at 1263 calories per day, which is right at the minimum calories that MFP sets for you... so I would suggest cutting back your calories, because i dont think you are "moderately active" doing only the exercise you are giving us.. Lightly active, yes.. not moderately.
That being said. I too have lost 52 pounds. When I was at 42 pounds, i hit a HUGE plateau and was STUCK for 3 months straight! Never moved an ounce! I tried everything.. except eating at my TDEE, because it was 980... i didnt want to go below 1200. BUT, i called my doctor.. explained to him what my TDEE was, and he told me as long as i didnt go under 1000, i was fine. I ate at 1000 for one month, broke my plateau.. started moving a little more.. lost 10 pounds, and slowly increased my calories back up to 1300 by 200 calories per week & im doing great! Not stalled out or anything!
I KNOW that MFP tells you a certain thing, but its because they HAVE TO. The bst thing you can do is call your doctor, figure out your TDEE together, or look it up on your own (i use a site to look my own up.. ) and go from there. Some people will tell you to eat more.. some will tell you to eat less. some will tell you to eat maintence. some will tell you to exercise.. some till tell you to stop. Its about finding out what works for YOU, but this is what works for ME and since dieting is ultimately about calories OUT verses calories IN.. and eating at your TDEE is what you are suppose to do... this (for me anyway) makes the most sense.

Starvation mode does NOT exist, short term. I asked my doctor. You would have to be eating at 500 calories or less for over 6 months to a year for this to happen. If this were a fact, Americans wouldnt get SKINNY when they didnt eat for months when starving themselves for roles in movies, etc.
She is eating more than the "basic 1200" that MFP sets anyway.. so this shouldnt even apply to her as far as anyone is concerned.
This is a total myth. (In the form of short term starvation.)0
