I don't even like sugar in my tea, but I switch up all different varieties not just black tea

I drink a lot of tea. I don't like sugar in it. There isn't a huge amount of calories in one teaspoon of sugar, but if you want to give it up I think it's easier to cut it out gradually. Many, many years ago, I went from 1 teaspoon down to half a teaspoon, then kept cutting down until it was only a few grains then gave up altogether. I can't stand sugar in tea now! I do have a splash of milk.

I don't take my tea with sugar, either. I drink a lot of green tea, or cranberry and raspberry. If you don't like tea without sugar I'm not sure you'd like green tea though, so maybe go with cutting it out gradually?

Me too. Been a heavy tea drinker for years . Prefer mine sweet with double lemon. Probably the main reason I got fat. I am learning there are other ways to have it however. Plain with a little fruit juice added is a pleasent change. 1/2 stevia and 1/2 sugar = 5 calories per packet of truvia. Plain tea with just fresh lemon. I have even tried and liked just lemon water. And if I am out and about I get a half and half. (half sweet and half plain with the double lemon). And every now and then if I feel sick and can't hold anything down I still go for it sweet (and double lemon of course). And i never beat myself up over it.

Hey as long as it isn't interfering with meeting your daily goals, why give up something you love so much? A teaspoon of sugar isn't that much. Even if you're having five cups a day that's only 75 calories. Not the end of the world. That's like drinking half a can of soda. Yeah you could cut it down or cut it out, it's still empty calories, but it's not something to be super worried about.

I drink several cups of tea every day -- with 1/2 tsp. of sugar and literally a few drops of milk. For logging purposes, my first entry every day is "Misc. - 250 calories" to cover the tea and any other calories I don't count such as tasting while cooking, or taking a bite of SO's crumb cake to satisfy his need to share with me ()
