Family Illness

I have got to get back to eating as clean as possible... my brother in law has been in the hospital for the last month and spent 3 wks of it in ICU! We lived at the hospital the first week because it was so touch and go. We almost lost him twice. This stress and kind of situation does not allow for a lot of healthy eating and or exercise. This insanity has got to stop now that things have sort of leveled out and hes going to be ok. I have got to get back in the swing of things!!! Any of you have things like this that have gotten you off track??

Yes. For sure. 4 years ago my husband became ill and I tried to maintain my 15 pound loss but it gradually crept back. After while I just stopped trying because I was so stressed out all the time. Taking care of him, and then my Mom, I totally quit on myself. Now am doing it again. If you can get back on track now, you will be very glad you did. It's very hard to keep up healthy habits when a family member is hospitalized.

Very much so. My mother is suffering from cancer and most likely won't be around much longer. She has been in the hospital for 3 weeks now. I just do the best I can and try to maintain. Luckily the hospital cafeteria is not all that bad and lists all nutritional content for all options. I bring breakfast with me, eat lunch there, and eat dinner when I get home (which is home cooked 5-7 nights a week depending on variables).
  • O my it seems like I always have some stress. I will be good a week and then a few head aches will come up and add stress. Being the Mom and running a house along with working everyday is stress. But I have decided no matter what I will make sure I come first and what ever is left will go to everything else. It's sad we always end up being the one to care for everyone. Sometimes we just make excuses why we can't and convince our self when really at the hospital you can walk and go out long enough to pick up good choices. Make you a priority.... Your emportant
