It is really nice to have lots of new folks join the group, again, the more the merrier.

Not a stellar week, as we actually gained weight as a group. :noway: I am starting to think I am in competition with hawkeye now on who can gain the least weight instead of lose the most.

Ann you win biggest loser honors this week, what shall our group challenge be?

MFP-35.jpg

So for anyone who wants to join. During your 1st week in the group, send me your starting weight, last Sunday's weight, and this week's weigh in (we do them on Sunday). All information must be sent to me by noon Central on Monday. All subsequent week's you just have to give me your current weight from Sunday by noon on Monday.

This is an open group, and we love to have new people join. If you want to join, go ahead and start posting, tell us about yourself, we have been doing this diet thing a while and may be able to answer a lot of our questions!!!!

Thanks for the chart Jack! I sure know what you mean about gaining the least, but next week it will be a loss for sure. I extended my 4th of July holiday an extra week, so I plan to get serious this week starting tonight.

Welcome to all the new folks, glad to see our team continues to grow.

Have a great week everyone! Hawkeye

Guess I misunderstood. I actually gave you my 7/5 and 7/11 weight but you only used the 7/11 weight, darn :ohwell:
Let's see what I can do this week...

You can join now and start posting, etc... but since weigh-ins are on Sunday's and the chart has been created, your weight won't show on the master list until next Monday. Feel free to post your current weight and tell us a lillte about yourself in the meantime.

Okay...so after last couple of weeks it is just really good to be on the loosing side!!!! ;)

Our challenge this week is......I'm sure we all watch at least a "wee bit" of tv. So.....each night this week, pick one 30 minute segment of your tv watching, and exercise during the commercials.....either run the stairs in your house, run in place, do jumping jacks, or crunches, or whatever activity you choose and works for you.....PLUS.....pick one bad habit you may have and try and break it this week.

I usually watch the news when I get home, so will do my extra exercise during that time frame. Then I have a HORRIBLE habit of having to have a snack at bedtime. I will not do that this week!!!! ;)

Have a great one everyone! It is so super cool to see so many new faces. Welcome to all of you and jump right in with what you are doing!

Jack....thanks again for the cool chart. You are the MAN!!!!

Only 30 minutes of TV - Oh no the Bachelorette is on tonight. What if I exercise longer after the show is over during commercials!!!

Good challenge though - I am a couch potato too many nights.

That is a real good challenge Ann. My bad habit will be piggying out in evening. The last 3 weeks, I have been eating junk every night, and not only a few chips, but the whole bag. But now I have definately seen it on the scale. So time to get back into the game. I think I got my head on straight again.

Good morning team! Hit my goal for last night.....extra exercise and no bedtime snack!!! :)

This is a little calmer this week....THANK GOODNESS!!! Our youngest was in the Community Children's Theatre. The production was "The Legend of Pocahontas". Every night last week we had to be at the school at 5:30 and didn't get home until 9:30 or so. WOW!!!! That was not a good week for the eating or exercising!!! ;) He then went early Sunday morning to his high school football camp, and it has been an adventure. I guess they have had bear in the camp every night.....was all over the head coach's truck and chewed up some of the shoulder pads. OMGOSH!!!! Then it rained really bad, and some of the tents were leaking, one didn't have any poles, so that put them short and they were crammed into what they had. Quite the scene I'm sure!!!! Glad that today is the last practice and then they head home. Will be glad to have him home and I'm sure he will be glad to sleep in his own bed for a while! What's a mother to do!!!!! Then he will be bored because everything is over! 2-a-day practices will start soon, so that will get him going again!

Well....off to have a great day today. Made it to Curves last night and it felt great.

Everyone make it a great day!

Well I made it out for a 40 minute walk yesturday, I was even able to jog for 10 of those minutes, it felt great. Definately like leaving the kids at home for walks, so I can do that. Will try to jog more if I get out today, but it is very windy and cloudy and rainy here today.

Stayed within the cals yesturday, even with sharing a bag of buttery popcorn with hubby last night with a movie.

Have some books to do today, and then weather permitting we may go down to the lake for the afternoon and supper. Hope everyone has a good day, will check back in tonight.

    Morning Team,

Glad to report that I was able to get back into the swing of things last night and went to the gym. Sounds like a very easy task, but since I took an unscheduled hiatus for more than a week, it was a "huge" step for me just to go back. Even though it was a shorter than normal work-out, it felt great afterwards just to have gone. Mentally, it's exactly what I needed to get back on track.

I really like the challenge this week as well. I think I will do some jumping jacks during the commercials tonight. It will also be funny to see the look on my wife and dogs faces when I just get up and do them. :) The bad habit to break will be no Peanut M&M's. They are my one true addiction.

Hope everyone has an active day. Hawkeye

Sorry to the folks I messed up on. We will get it right next week. If I messed up on your starting weight or this week's weight just let me know in a message and I will correct for next week.

Unfortunately MFP only lets me edit posts for one hour after I submit them, so I can't go back and change.

Trying to be good today, skipped McDonalds Sausage Biscuit and had my Protein Shake and peanut butter on a piece of toast for breakfast. Having a healthy lunch now. Exercising later.

I tried something that was really good last night. Was in the mood for asparagous, but it was $4 a pound at grocery store, but right next to it was ears of corn. I grapped an ear of corn and throught it stalk and all on the gas grill along with a chicken griller I got at the meat counter. I cooked the stalk until it was darkened on all sides, and it turned out to be one of the best ears of corn I ever had. All the silk and stalk fell off super easy when cooked, not sure I will every boil corn again.

    Wow
! thanks for the tip Jack.. I hate husking corn and pull off all the silk before boiling it. I will definitely try it.

Evening all.....Jack...I love corn on the grill like that. Nothing better.....

Murphy15....welcome and jump right in on our challenge and share a little about yourself with us. We are a very supportive group here and I think you will enjoy all of the positive reinforcement.

I am sitting here watching Jeopardy and totally forgot the challenge that I set out......will get on my exercising during the next commercial break and will continue into the next show.... ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful evening....104 degrees here today...EGADS....waiting for it to cool down so we can go for our walk. Still pretty hot out and it is almost 7 oclock!!!!

    Have a wonderful evening everyone!!!

I like grilling corn as well. If you have the time, soak the ears in water for a couple of hours first. It helps it cook via steaming the water. Not required, but it does improve the corn a touch.

I did my C25K run yesterday, week 8 day 2, 28 minute run without stopping. My pace is a little slow, but decent. Hopefully, by the time I 'graduate' next week, my pace will be back up to a 10 minute mile.

My birthday is next March. I'm trying to get where I can run a marathon for my birthday. I do question my sanity on this every so often, but then I keep finding out how many people have this as a goal for thier 50th birthday and continue to be amazed. If they can do it, I guess I can to!

Sure you CAN!!!! Good for you! You are already further than I made it. My knees just scream when I try and run. Didn't make it past the first week! Keep it up. You will hit your goal!

Yep, I understand that knee thing. It's taken me a while to get to the point I'm at (all year so far) because of all sorts of pains, bumps, bodily objections, you name it. I did a LOT of walking to build my knees up so they would survive. Had a few setbacks even with that.

Fortunately, except for being fat, way overweight, and out of shape, I'm pretty healthy. I do recover from my minor injuries. I was VERY afraid of doing some long term damage, so I was probably a bit overly cautious in building up my running. Of course, I found walking was GREAT for calorie burning. Far more so than I had thought.

I used to do a LOT of bike riding, still do somewhat, but I burn more calories on a good walk than I do on an equivalent time bike ride. I do enjoy the bike ride more, so I'll still take off and do a decent ride on Saturday mornings. Also my neighbor and I ride our bikes 3 days a week for general exercise, but he's in worse shape than I am, so we take that slow and easy.

Hi guys...I have been MIA for a while. We finally got the pool up and I finished the kitchen painting. The pool turned out to be a huge job. Anything that could go wrong did. I haven't gained any weight but I haven't lost any either. We took the boys to Carowind's today and just got in around 11:00 p.m. I am pooped so I'll try to log back on tomorrow. I have been having lots of trouble with my computer. Every time I logged onto MFP for the last week my computer locked up. Hopefully things will get back to normal now. Hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to all the new members.

I went to Carowinds back in the 80's when I was stationed in N.C. That place was great! I remember how interesting it was that the park was divided between two states S.C. & N.C. and that the sales tax was slighly different depending on which side you were on. Glad to hear it's still open. If I am ever traveling that way again, I will need to go. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories for me. Take Care. Hawkeye

Well I am back in the game. Today is the start of a new week, and getting back on target. Going golfing in a few hours, so will definately burn a few cals there, even with a power cart - you should see the walking I do, I am that horrible. Then weather permitting I will do my 25 min walk/jog tonight.

Have some books to finish up his week, and then next week I have hit cleaning the house, man has it been neglected this summer. On Friday we have a quad derby to go to, so I will be taking the kids to grandma's on Thurs till Sat. So Friday will definately not be a healthy day, but that is only 1 in a week of 7.

I hope everyone is having a great summer, it seems to be going by so quickly. Will check back in tonight to log the day.

    Good evening team.

WOW!!!! I just participated in our local Relay for Life from 7:00 PM on Saturday night to 7:00 AM this morning. Walked 15.25 miles....my brother that is 15 years older than me walked 21.25 miles. WOW was I beat this morning. Came home and went straight to bed. What a great cause though. Had a wonderful time. All I could think of is how many calories I was burning off!!!! :) Have no clue but if I use the method I usually do of 8.7 per minute and it usually takes me about 13 minutes to walk a mile (give or take) that is 113.1 per mile....times 15.25.....that is 1725 calorie burn. Don't think I want to do that every night.....but it was well worth all the pain I am feeling today.

So....I didn't weigh in this morning but will first thing in the morning and send it to Jack. We have just had quite the storm blow over us. Thunder/Lightning/ and lots of heavy winds. Pretty amazing to watch mother nature at work. Just really glad it was tonight and not last night. That could have made a really wonderful time, turn miserable very quickly.

Well.....better get off of this computer and see if I can get something done before it is time to go back to bed.

    Talk to everyone tomorrow!

Happy Sunday all...Tomorrow I am back on the wagon. I haven't been logging my food like I should or exercising because I have been so busy but NO MORE EXCUSES! I haven't lost any weight this week but I didn't gain either, so all is well. We went to church this morning and I had a very lazy day otherwise. I finished a book that I started reading two months ago and watched Transformers 1 and 2 with my youngest. Tonight we had a late night swim in the new pool and the water was so warm. It was wonderful to have our pool back. Have a great evening.

I'll weigh in the a.m. and send to Jack. See y'all tomorrow.

Good morning team! Gosh....I am so impressed with myself. I truly thought I wouldn't be able to move this morning and I actually feel pretty good! Still a bit sore, but not bad at all!

Didn't gain this week, but didn't loose either! Stayed the same. This week, I will be a little scarse as we go on vacation on Wednesday and the next two days I will be trying to get things ready to leave. Going camping for a few days. Hope the weather is good for us. Will be back on Friday. I am sooooo ready to get out of here.

Had to take our youngest to the ER last night. Only after talking to his doctor first. He has a massive rash, and then when we were at the Relay for Life Saturday night, he started having difficulty breathing. We just watched him, but by last night it hadn't gotten any better. Called the dr. and he wanted to run some tests to make sure something didn't happen from when he was at football camp. All turned out well however and as the ER DR said...."You are leaving with the same rash you came with!" I really like the ER dr. The rash is called "Pityriasis Rosea". Now isn't that a name!!!! It can last as long as 6 months but usually about 6 weeks. EGADS.... Said the chest pains when he breaths is from a bruised chest wall! Go figure. At least we know he is okay.

Well, everyone have a fantastic Monday and I'll catch ya on the flip side!
