If a canned good such as mushrooms or corn has sodium in it, if I rinse the food in cold water in a colander have I removed the sodium?

Even rinsing repeatedly, you probably won't knock more than 15-20% of that excess sodium off. It's soaked in/cooked into the food. Best to just buy fresh or reduced/no sodium foods. Sorry0

That's a good question. I looked at this website: http://www.livestrong.com/article/284911-how-to-remove-sodium-from-canned-vegetables/ It says that rinsing removes much of the sodium.0

When possible I prefer frozen instead of canned. Corn, peas, etc taste better from frozen instead of canned and less sodium!0

Moni is right about frozen vegetables being better for you than canned.

Preferably, buy fresh vegetables, as Jansiemoo has pointed out - they are best of all.0
