Anyone have experience with a 1000 a day deficit?

I just need people's input on how the deficit works

    Very unhealthy and unsustainable.

1000 a day is doable where some drop their caloric intake by 500 and burn the other 500 through exercise but don't eat back their calories...
Done this in the past but you Don't get enough nutrients as well as frequent headaches... But I guess that's the compromise if you want to lose weight (not fat, just everything in general) fast - short term results though because it can rapidly lower your metabolism into starvation mode!

So if you want to lose just fat, you should ideally eat a little of those calories back?

Thanks for honesty I will admit
I did have a unrealistic weight loss mind set at first due to a lot of people bashing me made me change my mind set

I did in fact lose 20lbs in 1 month
Now trying to net 1500 a day after excercise versus 1500 calorie and net of 900

    High protein good carb diet
4-5 days week hr a day cardio/strength combo
    Cut out sugary drinks

I can get a 1000 (or 2000) deficit when I run long enough. its usually just once a week. I will just open up the app on my android phone and check the weekly graphs. I'll eat more during the next few days to make up for it.

    * edit ^^^ just saw your last post. I thought you were talking about something different. I have no idea what you are talking about now.

I said it because I did this for a week. It left me incredibly tired and groggy and with little energy or desire for exercise. What I find works for me now is 1500 cal, half of those consumed before my afternoon run. it gives me plenty of energy and allows me to burn all the calories eaten. Which then gives me a clean slate of 1500, I then consume around 1200 cal and that usually leaves me satisfied, but some days do eat the full 1500. The key is, no headaches, hunger and tons of energy. But you seem to have it all figured, goodluck.

I am a total believer in listening to your body

    Nutrients over calorie obsessing
    Eat to satisfaction
Eating til your stuffed in bloated is a sign your overeating in my opinion hehe

Depends on what you do and how your body responds. If I run a 1000 calorie deficit it catches up with me and I wind up taking a few days off to eat and recover. Basically I'm eating back those calories and losing days of training. If you feel find and not like you're starving yourself with a 1k deficit then by all means, have at it. I've done the 1k, and still do, but not regularly. I'll usually run a deficit like that on my longer run days, or if I couple weights with running. I'm eating enough, but running the deficit because of exercise. It's not good to starve yourself too much. Your body will also go into a catabolic state where it burns muscle because it doesn't have food as fuel. High protein diet will help but only so much.

    depends

bf%, length of time at this deficit. actually 1000 or under/overestimate, type of exrcise done.

If you have at least 25lbs to lose to get to healthy weight range then I'd say that's ok. If you are closer to goal weight then reduce the deficit.

I have been at this deficit for 4 months now, all tracked here, it works. Lost 45 lbs so far and I have another 35 to go for stage 1. I had my doctor check me out a week ago, and he gave me metabolic rate test, this showed that my metabolism had slowed by 11% but that was normal and expected. I am currently on 1700 net calories a day. I have also had to buy new pants every 5 weeks and have gone from I size 46 to 38 (I admit the 38s are still a little tight, but so were the 42s last month - these were falling off me last week).

Yea I lost 20lbs since march with a major unhealthy deficit ill admit so I have been adding 100 calories little by little just so I don't gain weight so far it's been effective

    I lost 19.6 in 3 weeks gained back 3lbs then lost 4lbs
So in a matter if march 20 to current I've lost 20lbs

I eat a lot of protein
25% fat 27% carbs 48% protein ratio at the end of the day

    Isn't a 1000 cal/day deficit what you would need for a 2 lb/week loss?

Isn't a 2 lb/week loss considered "acceptable" although perhaps at the high end of the "acceptable" range?

    I don't see a problem.
