I think you need to be checked out for PCOS. I don't know how common it is right after having a baby but stalled weight loss and irregular cycles are big warning signs for this. It's actually pretty common and I'm surprised and disappointed that your doc hasn't looked into it. :( Good luck. Keep us posted. You are working way too hard on this to not succeed!

Did you get a copy of your blood test results? If not, do so! If you did, what were your thyroid numbers? TSH, T4, T3?

i didnt want to offend anyone, and yes according to my doctor they are normal levels. But she is also basing them on the old level where 6 is abnormal, when it is actually 3 i believe, this is something i just found out so i am going to address it when i see her

she has done a blood test, but now the more and more comments i read, i am startng to think i should get a copy and read over the results myself. She claims my bloodwork is normal. I know for a fact i have post partum thyroiditis. It was after i was having hot flashes.so bad i wouldthrow up, caused by the slightest increase in heat to my body. it was after that stopped that i noticed, all of a sudden i was tired all the time, i was napping during the day , never did that before. I had the sudden increase in weight gain. I left the hospital in a size 0 pants after i had my daughter. I was a year ago this all happen, a year after i had her. So my doc has had a wait and see aproach..which is starting to make me wonder, if she really knows whats going on. but state insurance is a ***** and i cant afford better insurance. but thank u for all the advice. It really made me think.

Are you on birth control? I have friends with IUD's who don't get a period and also a friend on Depo who doesn't get one either.

There is something wrong with your hormones if TOM stops at age 26 for no apparent reason. Please get a referral to an endocrinologist. This is likely why you cannot lose weight.
^^^This^^^ It causes fluid retention, why you aren't losing weight and can actually lead to serious health issues like hypertension (High blood pressure). Do not stop until you get an answer for the stop of your cycle. You weight is not high enough to be a health issue but the reasons for your loss of monthly cycle could be serious especially given the fact that you aren't losing weight like you are trying to do.

I am Hypothyroid and can tell you it will play havoc on weightloss and life in general. I am on Synthroid but takes going to the doc every 6 weeks to have my bloodwork checked and dosages recalculated. I have never been "normal" with it.

When they first discovered it I was "barely" high in my numbers - maybe like a 8 or 9. The last time I got tested my TSH was sitting at 26 so it does fluctuate. I will recommend having the blood test in the morning semi-fasting.

I can tell when I forget my pill in the morning because I will be EXTREMELY tired and then trying to work out is like sending shockwaves through my body. I can also tell you that with me I didn't stop periods... I had MULTIPLES - like 3 per month. I was completely drained.

I didn't joing MFP or start my diet/exercise until this week once I had my blood test results and I was close to the normal range (and remembering my meds lol).

Keep on your doctors to keep looking because some of them in my past can very lazy in trying to figure it out. Good Luck!

i am actually on htn medication, per me. I had high bp when i was 21 until i got pregnant then it went away until i had my daughter. and came back about 1 year after i had her, which was just about a year ago. I had to have her switch me back to metoprlol. she put me on something with a diuretic and i didnt like it, my heart was acting weird. so since i have been on thisits been good. i am also on methadone, for a broken vertebrae. but i have been on it for over 2 years. and this weight thing appreared less than a year ago, out of no where. so I honestly dont know what to think. I havent had tom since oct. I tried to start losing weight in jan. started at 154, and am down to 146. stalled at 146. been here for over a month. I had an awesome metabolism, until about a year ago. I gained 50 lbs and cant get rid of it. and got super tired, did i mention i nap every day now, and never did before. i could sleep 6 hours and be ok, i can sleep 9 hours and wake up tired now. but all the blood work.seems ok. excpet for some estrogen stuff. but i need to know more about the part of the cycle i am in to determine what levels are normal, but since i havent had a menst. cycle in almost 7 months i cant tell what phase i am in. so who knows what levels are normal? so thats where im at. My tsh is like 1.5 i dont know what it was before i had my daughter i dont know what it was beyond jan. which was 1.4 or something. so ya...
