Hello all,
My name is Janet, and a co-worker introduced me to this site. Oh lawd let this work for me!!!!
I start and I stop, I have very little willpower, so I'm hoping this free tool will keep me on track.
I need to lose 50 lbs.
I am 47 years (48 in November), but don't feel like I'm that old. I have Graves Disease, but have not had anything done to my thyroid yet. Needless to say, that all by itself is defeating.
But still I rise, and that's why I'm here.
So nice to meet you all!

Welcome to MFP. MFP is an awesome site. I am sure if you use it well (logging food and exercise, and seeking support) that you will do fine.
I am also 47, and will be 48 in October, and I too don't feel that old. How long ago were your diagnosed with Graves. I was diagnosed with overactive thyroid (is that the same as Graves?) when I was 10/11 years old. I think that is what caused my weight problems. As long as my thyroid was working "too" well I was underweight no matter how much junk I ate. When I went on medication, my thyroid slowed down but my eating habits never changes...thus weigh gain/low self-esteem...etc etc etc. I think I was 15 when I had surgery to remove part of my thyroid. Now it is still working overactively, but there is not as much of it so my levels are normal...but my weights not
I have been on this site since May (I think) and have been doing really well. TOPS and a work Biggest Loser competition are helping too, but I think using this site has been given me the most benefit.
Good luck on your journey, and feel free to add me as a friend.0
