After two weeks of weighing and measuring everything I eat, sticking to my calories and exercising like a demon I have lost the grand total of 1lb and that was in my first week!

What were you expecting? 1lb per week is a very healthy and acceptable weight loss for one week.
How long did it take you to gain the weight? I expect it took a lot longer than one week so you cannot expect to lose it all in that time.
Be patient, stick with it and give it time.0 -

Then don't bother. I wonder how much you were expecting to lose right away? I didn't lose anything for a month when I started last year..... now I'm below my goal weight.
Don't bother trying then if you are ready to give up after 2 weeks, cause it's going to be a lot longer than 2 weeks to lose more than that. I'm at 15 months & counting so far.0 -
1 pound of fat is a lot more than you may think.. I felt like this too sometimes and I would go look up what a pound of it looks like and imagine that never being on my body again! It's empowering!! Plus 3,500 calroies is no small feat. Don't regret that pound you lost (= enjoy it and think about all the pounds you'll be adding to it in the future! You'll never regret continuing to try, you'll only regret giving up (=0

Be patient! In the first month of exercising after my 2nd baby (she was 7 weeks old when I started back) I lost something stupid like 2lbs! But I lost lots of inches. Are you measuring?
Imagine if I'd quit then. I wouldn't now be 60lbs down and a US size 8!

Please don't give up I felt the same at the beginning. I've stuck to 1200 cals for the past 6 months, don't do much exercise apart from the odd walk a couple of times a week and I've now lost 25lb going from 154lb down to 129lb. I had hoped it would've dropped off quicker but it didn't, some times I stayed the same weight for weeks on end and this was very frustrating but eventually it started moving again. I'll be happy with another stone off.
Stick with it you'll get there. At least it was 1lb off this week and not 1lb on lol!0 -

as the others said, 2 weeks typically wont show a loss if u are losing weight the healthy way. even if u lost 5 lbs, it would be water weights- its not like u will see a physical difference in 2 weeks0

Be patient. It took me one year to lose all this weight, but it was worth it. It feels awesome to finally be the thin one that can look good in almost anything. Just hang in there and be optimistic because it will change your life for the better.0

These people have no reading comprehension. You said two weeks, not one, and they're all blathering about "one pound per week is healthy!" And then dumping their toxic anger on you for no reason, when all you need is a little support.
All I can say is muscle weighs more than fat. I hate hearing it too. Get a scale that monitors body fat. That might be decreasing.
Also, try to keep measureing and exercising like you have been (making sure you're eating enough!!!!) and wait another month to weigh yourself.0 -

Two weeks is still a small sample size to come to a conclusion that the weight is never going to come off. Look at her diary and take into account a lot of missing detail to help put OP on the right path.
While some of the people responding are a bit douchey in their responses, they are right about the fact that weight loss isn't an overnight process.0 -
Go find a pound of something - it's a decent amount of weight to lose. It helps to visualise. The way I look at it is: What I have been doing hasn't been working for me, so I'm going to give something else a good try and see if that works better. Don't beat yourself up because you haven't lost as much as you'd like right away. You just have to try and stay positive and stick with it. Use MFP to your advantage as well - find supportive and nice people to keep you motivated and help you out. You'll be fine0

Your weight will go up and down. A pound lost a week is the healthy way to loose it and you are more likely to keep it off. They say it takes four weeks before you will see something different about yourself. i would also go more by body messurements then the scale. If fat becomes muscle you will weigh more but be smaller. But I don't know how active you were before you joined MFP but I wouldn't give up.0

Me too. Um, a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, weirdly enough lol. Takes up less space though! Although in 2 weeks you're hardly going to build up much muscle!
Exercising hard can make you retain water though while your muscles repair.0 -
Yay! Finally got the pic to work...I hope this gives you some perspective, 1lb is a great loss.
If you manage to consistently lose 1lb each week, you will be 24lb lighter by October and 32lb by Christmas - that's a LOT of weight! Have patience, or you will never succeed.0
