Smoothie Drinkers

So I’m going to try and start drinking some variation of a green monster smoothie every morning for breakfast instead of my usual bagel and a coffee. Right now I’m researching different recipes but I also wanted to get some input from people already doing this routine.
I plan to stop drinking coffee and most importantly I wanted to know if this shake actually does give you energy?
Also did anyone feel an improvement in their health or state of mind?
Better looking skin?
How did you think it tasted the first time you drank it? Was it as good as people said it would be? I’m not picky but I’d rather not drink a dirt flavored drink every morning
Do you blend up a big batch at the beginning of the week or blend up a smoothie every morning?
I am completely new to this so any advice would be appreciated. Here is the recipe I am going to start with
•1 cup almond milk
•1 ripe banana, peeled + frozen
•2 handfuls organic spinach
•1 tbsp ground flax
•1 tbsp nut butter
•1-3 ice cubes

I just started drinking green smoothies for breakfast last week. :)

Mine has two handfuls of spinach, a banana, a small apple, a splash of milk, ice, and whatever other fruit I have on hand. The best one had strawberries in it. This morning I put water melon in there... that was good. One time I added cinnamon.. that was good too! I really don't think you can mess it up.

They taste fantastic, in my opinion. I actually look forward to waking up so I can have it. I've never drank coffee, so I don't know about it replacing coffee.. but it does give me a good burst of energy. It also is extremely filling. Before smoothies, I ate cereal for breakfast and would be hungry again by the time I got to the office. Now I am full until lunch. I also just feel like it helps me start the day in the right mindset. I've found that if I eat junk for breakfast, I eat junk the rest of the day. If I drink green smoothie for breakfast, I eat great the rest of the day.

I make mine each morning... don't know how good it would be after a few hours in the fridge. Best of luck!

Thank you! Yea I might have to cave in and make one every morning. I'm not sure how nutritional and fresh it will taste after a few days in the fridge

My smoothies taste good and are very, very filling. I don't think it gives me any more energy than other food...I get my boost in the morning from working out. I no longer drink coffee, but when I did, I don't think a smoothie would have been a useful substitute.

I do not attribute my smoothies to any improvements in health, state of mind, or complexion.

I generally do half of a banana, a few pieces of whatever other fruit we happen to have on hand, a handful of spinach, 1/4 package of tofu, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds, 1/2 cup almond milk, and a few pieces of ice.

Edit: I make mine and consume immediately. I don't think they'd save well anyway, but with the flax seeds, if the smoothie sits it becomes gelatinous.

Yes you need to make them fresh. They don't do very well stored in the freezer or refrigerator. I make mine and consume immediately.

I've been making smoothies in the mornings for the past couple weeks. They started out as banana strawberry smoothies with minute maid 50 cal orange juice and ice. This week I started putting in carrots and spinach (I'm allergic to kale.) I couldn't taste much of a difference. It does turn green though.

I found that I didnt stay full for very long. So I started adding greek yogurt or peanut butter. Those add a lot of calories but supply protein and fat, which is said to keep you full and it worked for me.

I make a big batch then freeze the rest in an ice cube tray. then re-blend six of the cubes in the morning with water or more orange juice.

Im still just playing with the ingredients. But if you're trying to replace a meal with this, I recommend having some kind of fat and protein in it so you'll stay full longer.
