P90x - Follow Nutrition Plan?

For those of you that have had success with P90x, did you follow the nutrition plan? (50p/30c/20f for the first phase.) 20% fat seems really low to me especially if you are eating healthy fats. With this ratio I feel like I would be eating meat all day every day. Any help is appreciated!

I started P90x for the first time last spring and did not follow the diet plan. i lost 3lbs in the first 30 days (I didn't have a whole lot to lose), and then gained it all back in the 2nd 30 days. I was upset by that and then joined MFP. That helped me to have better portion size and plan my eating better. I never followed the diet plan but just eat better. Make sure you get enough protein though, there is quite a bit of lifting in the program. At my lowest I was down about 14lbs (before the holidays) and still have a few to lose to get back there. (Lost some before joining MFP so not all my lbs lost are indicated here). I suggest looking through the diet plan to get an idea of how you should be eating and if you feel sluggish or not losing weight then give it a try. I'm still doing P90x a year later so I obvously like the program.0

I totally agree with you on the fat% if you feel the need to 45 30 25 would still be really good. Personally I look at the Fat Shredder plan as a boot camp diet. I stayed on it for about 2 months and lost alot of wieght but eventually I did platue and switched to the 40 40 20. I would say start with the fat shredder but with fat percentage a little higher if you want. In the P90X cerfication workbook beachbody also mentions that you can stay on the Fat Shredder plan for as little as a couple weeks but at most a couple months. If you have any more questions feel free to message me for help.0
