Redirection of focus: Pregnant/Fitness

Hello Ladies
I would like everyone's input. My husband and I are trying to start a family. I have been so super focused about conceiving that I feel it is not happening naturally. (Believe me we do all the right things) Now we are still early in the trying stage but its all I think about. I read about it, dream about it and plan my life around this yet to be conceived child. I have allowed myself to put on weight thinking it was good for me to not be obsessed with my weight and not diet as we try.
Now, I am 10lbs more then I need or like to be and not pregnant. I would like to drop this weigh as it will be healthy for me when I do become pregnant and slowly gain.
I also want to stop obsessing about pregnancy. Any ladies out there have any recommendations? Do you think me taking my focus from pregnancy to dropping the 10pds will detract me while we continue to try? I want to for a while read and blog about fitness and not pregnancy. thoughts??

Hey girl. I'm right where you are. My husband and I have been trying (I have gotten pregnant and gained a few lbs with that, but then miscarried, so now I am trying to lose a few lbs). I have gained 15 lbs total now since my wedding last year, so I know how you feel! I am working out now and and am trying to lose a little bit before we start trying again (at least 5 lbs, but hopefully 10). My perspective is that when I am trying, I try to eat super healthy (yogurt, fruit, veges, protein, milk, multigrain bread) so I can get as many good nutrients into my body as possible, but I try not to restrict my calories too much since you need good fuel to make a baby. I do "gentle" / low impact exercise (like walking, yoga, etc.) then too. For the next couple months I will be stepping up the intensity of my workouts a little, but when I go back to trying, I'll probably tone it down again. Please don't be too stressed about your weight, especially since you are trying! But I agree that focusing on fitness might help take your mind off things!! Thinking about eating clean/healthy while you are trying can only be a good thing. Good luck!!0

I am 36 yr old and a mom of 4 kids ages 11,9,3,and 7 months. I have PCOS which makes it VERY hard to get pregnant. Well as you see I have had 4 kids and one miscarriage. I can let you know what worked for me and what didn't - never used fertitlity drugs to get pregnant just diet and exercise - you have to find the happy medium for your body and make sure you are fueling the proper way. If you want help I will be more than willing to look at what you are doing and give you any advice or tips.0

thank you for the response. I have been eating very poorly since my honeymoon. I now have the book "Food for Fertility" and am learning about proper nutrition for ovulation. Basically intake of protein mostly then carbs and fats. the recommended intake is sort of like a lower card diet. Feel free to look at my diet. You will notice that they will be alot of protein shakes for first and second meal until I can get my protein where it needs to be daily.
thank you0 -
I am going to message you what I have done 4 times to get pregnant - I have PCOS so I have to eat this way to even bring on a cycle0
