50 pounds in 3-5 months? please help/:

In the beginning of the year i was 188. I lost 8 pounds in one week of constant working out and then i have no idea how i lost the 6.. Hahaha but i weigh 176 currently. i stopped working out and eating right for a while. I lost motivation. I really want to lose weight. Im ready to do what i have to do. What are good. EASY recipes (Im not a fantastic chef), what are some good detox plans? I heard of one its called mango detox. Its green tea infused with ginger roots and slices of mangos. I heard its really good. Any others?(: i could also use some motivators.. If you would add me that would be GREAT!(: Seeing your weight loss will definitely encourage me(: thank you!

Welcome! Congrats on getting started on your journey!

What is your eating style like? Are you a vegetarian, vegan? I can look some recipes up for you. You can also browse the recipe board for some good ones.

I would suggest lots and lots of whole foods. A lot of raw and cooked veggies daily, 3-4 fruits daily, raw nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios), seeds (pumpkin, sunflower), and 1/2 cup or so beans a day. Drink lots and lots of water. Swim in it!!

An easy way to get in a lot of fruits and veggies are green smoothies.

You can find some recipes here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/966984-green-smoothies
And a lot more on pinterest!

Here is my favorite soup recipe ever: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/958056-the-best-soup-ever-ribollita?hl=ribollita#posts-14610407

Also, I missed the title of you post. Sadly, especially at your weight, 50 lbs in 3 months is unrealistic. While in 5 months is a better goal, I still do not think you will make that. You are not very heavy to begin with. How tall are you? 125 lbs seems like a very low weight, depending on height though.

Safely you can lose 40 lbs in 5 months but the closer you get to your goal weight the slower the weight will come off. You have to remember, this is a LIFESTYLE change, not just a diet. Be patient, and you will be rewarded.

Well, i have just decided that i wanted to start up again. I havent started eating healthy yet. But! When i do, lots of salads, chicken, fish, and i have no idea what else. I want good smoothie recipes, and quick things to make for lunch un the morning. I'll probably just make a sandwich(: is mayonaise healthy?? Like olive oil mayo? I am 5' 7" i think! And 125 is more of a base weight:) Im just gonna stop when Im happy!(: and ohh..okay/:

No. That is an unrealistic goal. the most you should shoot for is 40lbs in 5 months losing 2lbs/week and even then I think you should expect more like 12-20lbs in 3-5 months. Sorry.

When I was losing weight in 2009, my very best go at this (and tbh, I've gained it all back plus more.) I lost 50 lbs in a bit less than 6 months. However, I had a LOT more to lose than you do, and I know that the more weight you have to lose, the faster it comes off initially, often. I think that at your weight, you *might* be able to do 50 lbs in 6 months (which is about 2 lbs a week) but it will be ***HARD*** and probably not terribly realistic.

I would focus on just eating healthy, exercising, and feeling good, instead of just the number on the scale, and it'll happen. :-)

125 is quite small for 5'7" IMO. You may want to look into that or check with a doctor.

If you are going to make sandwiches use whole grain bread with seeds is nice. I would stay away from mayo and use avocado instead.

You should check out some books. My personal favorite is "Eat to Live" by Dr. Furhman. I am just now starting to read "It Starts With Food" which seems good so far.

For optimal health you want to stick with whole, natural, minimally processed or (preferably) non-processed foods.
