I was wondering if there was anyone out there with IBS and if so how often you weigh? It has been maddening for me these last couple of weeks.
Have a great day,
Shannon

I have IBS that is in pretty good control. I try to only weigh myself 2 times a week and not if I am feeling quite bloated. Do you have your IBS under control at all, do you take any medications?

I thought it was, but then it goes in phases. Everything about IBS is TMI. But it is on the constipation phase beyond the help of fiber. Too many days have gone by. I usually only treat with fiber then symptomatically with phenergan, laxatives, alka seltzer and imodium.
  • I have IBS and weigh on days I feel "normal"- no bloating and such. Since starting MFP, it has gotten all out of whack and going to the dr soon to discuss it. I know this is TMI but everytime I eat and I go within 30 minutes and have started cramping and feeling bad. I gave up wheat and gluten but that isn't helping. Wish I knew how to get it under control!!!!

I have IBS I avoid diary and alcohol (my triggers) and take peppermint oil capsules they really help me and I am rarely bloated, I also found that since I stopped drinking fizzy drinks I am less bloated as well.

the ones I take are Obbekjaers Enteric Coated Oil of Peppermint, they have to be Enteric coated or they dissolve in your stomach and cause stomach ache!!!

edited for spelling (Obbekjaers) (edited again cos it took 2 goes to get it right!!!)

I've got IBS, too, and have been tons better since getting off of regular milk. Even the lactose-free milks didn't work for me. Now I drink soy and almond milk, and that has helped a lot. I still eat a modest amount of cheese without any difficulty. Avoiding carbonated beverages is also helpful. Things improved a lot when I started working out more regularly and drinking a lot more water. I thought I drank a lot of water before, but apparently I was overestimating what I was getting. I start drinking water first thing in the morning, and get in as much as I can. I also added the SODIUM counter to my food diary, and found I was getting a lot more sodium than I thought I was. Hope this helps. I know it's frustrating. Hang in there, and don't give up!
