I was terrible yesterday! And once I start eating bad food, I just figure I already messed up so I should keep going. I'm trying to regroup today, but having a hard time. How to bounce back and get back to eating well??

I just do it - every day is a fresh start, an opportunity to make healthy choices. Take it!0

Just because you eat 1 bad thing doesnt mean you should just PILE ON! Everyone slips but you can't lose a WHOLE DAY to temptation.
After a bad day I try to start my day out with a workout and lots of water to try to flush out all the salt and whatever other crap you had the day before.... don't let 1 day turn into 2... you can do it!0 -
Just get back to what you've been doing. Crazy bad eating days happen, it helps to log it all for accountability.0

I find the key is NOT to punish yourself for a bad day, and NOT to try to be "extra good" to make up for it. Just draw a line under it and start afresh, do whatever you would have if you'd kept to the eating you'd planned the day before and move forward. Every day is a fresh start - good luck!0

This... I just do what I would normally do the next day rather than trying to starve myself or workout too much to make up for it. That just creates a roller coaster that isn't good either.0 -
Sob.
Take a cold shower and scrub yourself while listening to Celine Dion's 'All by Myself'0 -
I try to forgive myself first (ish happens) then get in a solid workout and amp up my water intake. You will bounce back no worries.0

I am the exact same way and sometimes I feel so bad about the day before it moves into the next day and I will mess that day up to. This is how NOT to loose weight lol. I think what helps me, such as today, is to first thing work out the next day-that way I feel like I have started the day out right and all the gross toxins from the gross food the day before-feels like they sweat out almost. Eventhough I find it really hard to get up and move after a day of binging-you have to make that first step.0

I believe this is wonderful advice.0 -
Everyone has a bad day here and there. Don't beat yourself up!! Just get back on track and you'll feel better in a very short while!!:smooched:0

Start looking at calorie deficit on a longer term than daily. I look at mine weekly. If I want to lose a pound a week, I have to be at a 3500 calorie deficit for the week. If I have a bad day, I have 6 days to make up for it, not one day. If I know ahead of time I'm going out for a couple of drinks or to a restaurant where healthy choices are minimal, I save some calories up through the week so the splurge won't hurt me.
I still look at my daily numbers to keep me in check but my main focus is cumulative throughout the week. It has taken a lot of stress off of me. This is a lifestyle, not a diet. If you freak out every time you over indulge, you will be a wreck all the time.
All of that being said, don't get crazy and eat it up 4-5 days a week and then starve yourself the rest. Just try not to fret when you have an overconsumption day.0 -

I do this when stressed out, whether it is about finances, relationships, chronic pain, whatever the stressor i tend to go for the bad foods (ice cream with fudge topping) and mess up my macros.
The way to deal with it is deal with the stressor somehow, find a way to relax (self-hypnosis, massage, meditation, deep breathing, yoga, progressive relaxation, take a light walk, stretching, sex) that doesn't revolve around eating.
Of course there should be at least one meal a week where you don't count calories (or eat maintenance, not overeat) and eat the forbidden foods. That way you'll stay psychologically motivated and have something to look forward to, it's not bad for your metabolism too.0 -
I had a bad day calories and food choices wise yesterday rather to just give up I am gonna make sure I work out today and rehidrate my body appropriately. It was just one day don't make it the rest of your life. This a new healthier you, keep your good work don't throw it all away.0

maybe you should start eating good food, and then since you're already eating good food just keep going?
you are falling to your knees, lying down in the gutter and dragging yourself down an alley.
most people just trip, regain balance and go about their day.
give it a try.0 -
That's why you log. If you eat one bad thing and log it, you'll see it's not the end of the world, and if you go for a walk or whatnot you might actually be able to burn it off.
And that's why I think clean eating is so dangerous. Too easy to say 'oh no, I ate a cookie' (which would probably totally fit within your daily calories in the first place!) then binge.0
