Can't do a (modified) roll-up

Hello,

Anybody got tips on modifying the modified roll-up so I can do it? I can only lift my shoulders and maybe my upper back off the ground, and then I just stop, even when doing the modified version (as demonstrated here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1pWz27ln-U, so with bend legs and using arms to pull you up). Even with the modified version, my feet lift and I have to use my back or my momento come up.

Any ideas on how to make this even easier so I can do it over time? Other exercices that I can do (I think mostly for upper abdominals)? I have the same problem with sit ups (although it isn't as bad with them), but I can do planks, crunches and even V-ups quite OK and have been doing them for years.

Thanks in advance :).

Have you tried bracing your feet under the couch or using a strap to keep the feet down?

Thanks for the input :). Unfortunately, I don't have a couch (I live in a room in a student house). How would I use the strap?

Wrap the strap around the balls of your feet and then lie down. Instead of going overhead, the arms will start from down by your sides with hands holding the strap. Adjust the tension in the strap so that it gives you a little support as you roll up and down. Since you have to push your feet down to keep the strap in place, it should help with them popping up.

You can do this with a resistance band too.

Thank you for the explanation, seems like that should work!

(And thumbs up for the Doctor, love it)
